  • Patent number: 10227098
Abstract: A transporter for transporting a load over a surface. The transporter includes a support platform for supporting the load. The support platform is characterized by a fore-aft axis, a lateral axis, and an orientation with respect to the surface, the orientation referred to as an attitude. At least one ground-contacting element is flexibly coupled to the support platform in such a manner that the attitude of the support platform is capable of variation. One or more ground-contacting elements are driven by a motorized drive arrangement. A sensor module generates a signal characterizing the attitude of the support platform. Based on the attitude, a controller commands the motorized drive arrangement.

Abstract: A multiple-axle steering system for an agricultural machine with at least one primary-controlled axle and at least one secondary axle, where the latter's steering deflection angle varies along a progressive characteristic curve as a function of the primary-controlled axle's steering deflection angle. The variation in steering deflection angle along the progressive characteristic curve means that the steering deflection angle of the primary-controlled axle in a range around the zero or neutral position initially results in only a slight steering deflection of the secondary axle. As the steering deflection of the primary-controlled axle increases, the steering deflection angle of the secondary axle progressively approaches the steering deflection angle of the primary-controlled axle. When using all-wheel steering, the use of the progressive characteristic curve facilitates smooth steering when driving on the road, where usually minimal steering deflection is performed by the machine operator.

Abstract: A portable mineral processing machine has a chassis, a mineral processing device mounted on the chassis, and a control cab support mechanism operative to vertically raise the control cab from a lowered in pit transport position in which it is supported on the chassis to a raised operative position in which it is supported on the ground and elevated to a designated height above the chassis. The control cab support mechanism preferably comprises a scissor lift mechanism including upper and lower scissor mechanisms which are independently operated by respective upper and lower double-acting hydraulic cylinders or the like. The upper scissor mechanism is operative to raise an upper platform with respect to an intermediate support platform, and the lower scissor mechanism is operative to first lower a lower platform with respect to the intermediate support platform, and then to raise the intermediate support platform, upper scissor mechanism, and upper platform with respect to the lower platform.

Abstract: Apparatus, for the remote control of a carrier vehicle from the cab of an excavator which is rotatably mounted upon the back bed of the carrier vehicle through a center pin assembly, is accomplished with a hydrostatic pump operably connected to the crankshaft of the carrier engine. Electric controls in the excavator cab connect to the pump which selectively directs fluid to a motor which rotates a first gear which meshes with a second gear fixed to the carrier vehicle drive shaft. In alternate embodiments, the motor connects to a power take-off on the transmission. Carrier steering, braking, and throttle functions are also remotely controlled at the excavator cab through a combination of electric and hydraulic controls with the electric wires extending from the electric controls in the excavator cab, through a slip ring on the center pin assembly and to the respective function controls at various sites on the carrier vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5038887
Abstract: An operator control console and motion/speed linkage assembly for a bidirectional vehicle is provided. The operator console includes a platform, an operator seat attached to the platform and integral control and steering units. The operator console is mounted for rotational movement around a bearing ring. An interface link in the linkage assembly includes a rotatable sleeve supporting a pin attached to a throttle cable which actuates the reversible valve of the hydrostatic drive of the vehicle. When the control lever is in the neutral position, the pin and supporting sleeve extend along the rotational or pivot axis of the console. The rotatable sleeve swings about an axis substantially perpendicular to the rotational axis, acting to operate the throttle cable which in turn actuates the hydrostatic drive of the vehicle. When the platform is rotated to switch the direction of vehicle movement, the rotatable sleeve freely pivots around the pin to provide proper operator orientation and throttle operation.
