  • Patent number: 8219291
Abstract: A method of controlling a vehicle includes signaling a transmission to shift into a first gear ratio and sensing a current gear ratio of the transmission after signaling the transmission to shift into the first gear ratio. The method further includes implementing a diagnostic transmission shift control strategy to override a normal transmission shift control strategy when the current sensed gear ratio is not equal to the requested first gear ratio to verify proper functionality of a mode control valve that is responsible for shifting the transmission into the first gear ratio.

Abstract: Motorized vehicles having hydraulic tools as attachments are well known. Examples includes road graders, excavators, snow ploughs (and nursery equipment such as tree spades, tree movers and tree handling equipment), tractors, front loaders, and skid steers. A single hydraulic tool may be controlled by a simple manually operated hydraulic control system if the operation of the hydraulic tool is not complex. The use of “Electric over Hydraulic control” is more commonly used for hydraulic attachments with more complex functionality. A typical electric over hydraulic control system uses a bundle of wires; in which each wire in the bundle is dedicated to a particular operational feature of the attachment. These wires are prone to failure as a result of the wear and tear they are exposed to during normal use of the equipment. This, in turn, has led to proposals for the use of a wireless control system.

Abstract: A traveling hydraulic working machine has a target revolution speed of an engine commanded by an input and sensors for detecting an operating situation of a hydraulic actuator and an operating situation of a traveling system. A prime-mover revolution speed control modifies the target revolution speed of the prime mover when the operating situation of the hydraulic actuator and the operating situation of the traveling system come into respective particular states, and controls the revolution speed of the prime mover, With the traveling hydraulic working machine, in the combined operation of traveling and working a hydraulic actuator, work can be performed on the basis of the engine revolution speed intended by an operator. When a working load varies, the engine revolution speed is automatically controlled.
