Reflector Baffle Patents (Class 181/155)
  • Patent number: 11950049
Abstract: An acoustic reflector includes a reflection portion on which an elliptical reflection surface is formed, in which sound output from a speaker device that has an output position of the sound at or near one focal point on the elliptical reflection surface is reflected by the elliptical reflection surface, and the reflection portion has a size that reflects sound in a range of equal to or less than a nominal directional angle of the speaker device. As a result, because an outer shape of the reflection portion is formed to have a size in the range corresponding to the nominal directional angle of the speaker device, it is possible to reduce the size of the acoustic reflector.

  • Patent number: 11004438
Abstract: A sound system with upfiring speakers and a redirecting baffle is shown and described. Upfiring speakers simulate overhead speakers by using a ceiling to reflect sound toward the listener from above the listener's head. However, in rooms with high ceilings, such reflection is not practical. The redirecting baffle is spaced apart from the upfiring speakers along a height axis and is oriented downward so that a surface normal to the baffle is neither parallel to nor perpendicular to the floor. By adjusting the angle of orientation, the location at which the reflected sound quality is best can be adjusted toward or away from the upfiring speakers. The system is particularly useful for in-store displays as many stores have ceiling heights that make sound reflection from an upfiring speaker impractical.

  • Patent number: 10136233
Abstract: Apparatuses that operate as both a public address speaker and a wireless access point (AP) for mounting to a ceiling or wall. The compact public address access points described herein may include an AP housing, enclosing a radio (e.g., a 3×3 MIMO radio) and antenna, that is coupled to a speaker assembly including a speaker, a conical acoustic reflector positioned between a front of the speaker and the housing of the AP, and an annular region comprising a concave inner wall facing the conical acoustic reflector. Although the AP is nested atop the front of the speaker, the speaker may produce high-quality sound with accurate voice reproduction without interfering with the operation of the wireless transmission of the AP. Methods of operating and installing these apparatuses are also described.

  • Patent number: 10063962
Abstract: An enclosure for a speaker transducer can have a front housing member and a rear housing member. Some enclosures position the speaker transducer between the front housing member and the rear housing member, and spaced apart from the rear housing member to define a rear chamber positioned between the speaker transducer and the rear housing member. The rear housing member can define a longitudinal axis. A first waveguide member and a second waveguide member can be longitudinally spaced apart from each other to define an acoustic waveguide therebetween oriented transversely relative to the longitudinal axis. A port can acoustically couple the acoustic waveguide with the rear chamber. A cross-sectional area of the waveguide can expand radially outward of the port. And, the acoustic waveguide can extend circumferentially around the longitudinal axis more than 90-degrees. Some embodiments include a speaker transducer and are suitable as a headphone.
