Abstract: An ultrasonic sensor includes a case, a piezoelectric element, and two weight portions. The case includes a circumferential wall portion extending in an axial direction. The two weight portions are provided on the circumferential wall portion outside the case so as not to overlap each other as seen in the axial direction. When a bottom portion of the ultrasonic sensor bends toward one side in the axial direction during vibration at a frequency of a first vibration mode, the two weight portions incline toward the other side in the axial direction. When the bottom portion bends toward one side in the axial direction during vibration at a frequency of a second vibration mode, the two weight portions incline toward one side in the axial direction.

In other embodiments, one or more reinforcing members are fixedly adhered to both the voice coil bobbin and the flat rear surface of the diaphragm.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for reproducing the bass components of an audio signal with a high degree of accuracy and minimal distortion, utilizing an enclosure of relatively small size. The apparatus comprises a substantially sealed enclosure in combination with a radiating diaphragm driven by an electromagnetic transducer, the principal diaphragm restoring forces being the elastic forces exerted against the diaphragm surfaces by the gaseous medium engaging such surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4183422
Abstract: A communications device for use under water by a human speaker. A tubular base member has a mouthpiece located at one open end thereof and an inflatable air bag mounted about another open end thereof. In use, the speaker places the mouthpiece around his mouth to form an air seal therebetween and blows into the air bag to partially inflate it. When so inflated, the speaker talks into the device with voiced sounds being transmitted to the surrounding water through suitable transmitting means attached to the base member, preferably the air bag itself. During talking, the air bag receives and returns the air used by the speaker, thereby effectively preventing the escape of air bubbles from the device which otherwise interfere with communications. The air bag is preferably an elongated, flexible balloon which can be stretched into an extended position when speaking into it under water.
