Patent number: 9797194Abstract: Ladders, ladder components, adjustment mechanisms and related methods are provided herein. In one embodiment, a ladder may include an adjustment mechanism for adjusting, for example, a leveler, a stabilizer, or any two relatively displaceable components of the ladder. The adjustment mechanism may include an actuating mechanism having a first structure and a second structure slidably disposed adjacent the first structure, the second structure having a plurality of engagement surfaces. A body is coupled with the first structure. At least two engagement pins are slidably displaceable relative to the body, wherein the plurality of engagement surfaces and the at least two engagement pins are arranged such that only a single engagement pin of the at least two engagement pins is in abutting engagement with an engagement surface of the plurality of engagement surfaces at one time. At least one biasing member is configured to bias the at least two engagement pins towards engagement with the engagement surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2014Date of Patent: October 24, 2017Assignee: Wing Enterprises, IncorporatedInventors: N. Patent number: 8672279Abstract: A reversible ladder-mounted support and tray has a bracket designed to be removably affixed to the combination of a rail of a ladder and over a rung just adjacent to the rail. A first fitting is provided that overlies the rail and a second fitting overlies the rung. Concerning the second fitting overlying the rung, in fact, two such fittings are also provided that are essentially back-to-back. In this way, the support may be removably installed on either of the opposed rails of the ladder so that the support can extend laterally to either side of the ladder. Attached to the first fitting designed to overlie the rail is an elongated rod to which is mounted an elongated tube or sleeve having a split and a locking mechanism. The split allows the tube to slide freely over the rod and the locking mechanism may be engaged to narrow the split to lock the position and orientation of the tube thereon.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2011Date of Patent: March 18, 2014Inventors: Martin Alexander Theodore Schirmacher, Ralph Lee Pasley, Jr.

Patent number: 7789199Abstract: Ladder attachment apparatus and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, an attachment apparatus for a ladder includes a main support adapted to be coupled to the ladder approximately parallel to the rungs. The main support includes a first coupling member proximate a first one of the elongated rails of the ladder and a second coupling member proximate another one of the elongated rails. The attachment apparatus further includes first and second support modules removeably coupled to the first and second coupling members, respectively. Each support module includes a support member including a proximal end and a distal end, and a support arm attached to the support member proximate the distal end and projecting outwardly therefrom in a first direction. The support member includes at least one projecting portion that is removeably coupleable to the corresponding one of the first and second coupling members.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2005Date of Patent: September 7, 2010Assignee: Trade Associates, Inc.Inventors: Skye Lechner Wollenberg, Neil Garrett Stockman

Patent number: 6745870Abstract: A channel with sliding clamp and rod arrangement for leveling a ladder comprising a base unit of a hollow rectangular shape adapted to fit over the leg of the ladder. The base unit has interior walls spaced apart sufficiently to accommodate the ladder leg. Each of the walls has formed thereon a plurality of spaced splices that slop outwardly and downwardly away from the ladder leg. A clamp member comprises a generally rectangular block that has formed thereon sloping splices that fit into the grooves or spaces between the splices of the base unit. Clamp member has a bore that adjustably and securely retains a support rod, which has a swivel foot at one end. The end of the clamp member that is to be placed adjacent the ladder leg and the opposing interior surface of the base unit have a substantially V-shaped configuration to insure slip free purchase against the ladder leg.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2002Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Inventor: William T. Smith

Patent number: 5944142Abstract: Stepladder support apparatus for use with a stepladder to allow the stepladder to be positioned on an uneven surface and maintain the rung side of the stepladder at an elevated position includes a support member having a top end and a bottom end. Rung engagement members are attached to the support member for engaging and supporting one or more rungs of the stepladder. The bottom end of the support member extends below the lower end of the rung side of the stepladder when the rung engagement members engage and support a rung or rungs of the stepladder.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1998Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Inventor: Robert W. Patent number: 5609222Abstract: An improved ladder leveler which is made up of inner square bar and outer square tubes which slidably move axially in relation to each other vary the degree of extension. Locking the same by the insertion of a cotterless pin through aligning holes provided the inner bar and outer walls, the outer walls of said square tubes having ladder rung brackets which are spaced to accommodate ladder rungs; the leveler being fastened to the ladder and ladder rungs locked in place by the threaded engagement of a formed threaded pin which extends through the rung brackets and secured with a hair pin to engage a stile bracket which engages the ladders stile.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1995Date of Patent: March 11, 1997Inventors: Theodore Horbacewicz, Lawrence Morse

Patent number: 5582270Abstract: An improved replacement ladder rung/pulley construction is disclosed wherein a rotatable rod, mounted on bearings and extending substantially completely from one side of the ladder wall to the other, is located within the rung. The rung has a cutout portion proximate its center, which allows a rope to be passed therethrough and over the rotatable rod. The rod thus functions as a pulley and obviates the possibility of the rope sliding off and becoming jammed if the pulling force is exerted from one side or the other.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1994Date of Patent: December 10, 1996Inventor: Robert N. Patent number: 5121813Abstract: A stabilizing leg for attachment to a ladder for use on uneven surfaces comprises a rigid leg member (3) having a central longitudinal slot (6) through which extend U-bolts (17) for clamping the leg member (3) to the rungs (15) of the ladder. The U-bolts can be slackened to permit the leg member (3) to slide vertically relative to the rungs between stored and extended positions, and also to slide along the rungs between the opposed stiles. The leg can be used on a ladder without specific adaptation of the ladder. There is also disclosed a hooking support (30) for attachment to the stiles at the upper end of the ladder for supporting the ladder from a ledge or spouting. The support comprises a number of adjacent hooking portions (34a) to (34d) spaced by a fraction of the ladder rung spacing.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1991Date of Patent: June 16, 1992Assignee: Altrone Innovations PTY.
