  • Patent number: 10679526
Abstract: A wind resistant sign has a frame with vertical supports that are joined and held parallel with respect to each other by a top crossmember and a lower crossmember. The crossmembers and supports form an enclosed area that surrounds a panel. The panel is connected to the frame through pivots that extend into a channel in the panel. The pivots are located closer to the top crossmember and allow the panel to pivot when wind or other forces apply force to the panel. When the force is removed, the panel returns to a vertical orientation. The frame can be driven into the ground to support the frame. The panel is installed on the pivots by bending it to allow the edge to clear the terminal end of the pivot. An optional stiffener can be inserted into one of the channels to increase the rigidity of the sign panel.

  • Patent number: 8261880
Abstract: A step ladder apparatus for retention within a stake pocket comprising a frame assembly a plurality of step assemblies and an attachment assembly. The attachment assembly includes a frame flange and a wedge member. The frame assembly is positioned within the stake pocket so that the frame flange overhangs one end of the stake pocket. The base of the wedge member is inserted into the stake pocket opposite the frame flange so that the wedge flange overhangs the stake pocket on a side opposite the frame flange. As a result, the flanges cooperate to substantially preclude downward movement of the frame assembly, and, in turn, removal of the frame assembly in a downward direction from the stake pocket.

  • Patent number: 8225906
Abstract: An extendable/retractable ladder assembly includes a first stile and a second stile and a plurality of rungs extending therebetween. Each stile may comprise a plurality of columns disposed in a nested arrangement for relative axial movement in a telescopic fashion. A connector assembly connects the rungs to respective columns in the first and second stiles. The ladder has improved manufacturability since connector assemblies may be assembled before connecting the rungs to respective columns. The standing surface of the rungs may be angled such that it is rotated towards horizontal when the ladder assembly is leaned against a wall. A latch assembly may be used to selectively lock relative axial movement between adjacent columns. The latch assembly includes a locking pin assembly comprised of a central post and an outer metal sleeve. An air damper may also be used to control airflow through the columns.

  • Patent number: 7086499
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a rail for a ladder. The method may include pultruding in a longitudinal direction, a rail having a selected cross-sectional shape. The rail may then be cut to a predetermined length at a distal end. A force may be applied, in a lateral direction, to the rail to form a curvature therein. The curvature may be characterized by a flared portion, a straight portion, and a curved region providing the transition therebetween. The rail may be held at the desired curvature for a time selected for the rail to take on the curvature substantially permanently. The force may then be removed and the rail may be assembled into a ladder.
