  • Patent number: 9266704
Abstract: A “hex-plus-X” linkage for lifting applications, comprising a hexagonal assembly, an X assembly, and actuation means. The hexagonal assembly comprises six bars, B1 through B6, pivotally attached end-to-end in a closed hexagonal loop, B1-B2-B3-B4-B5-B6-B1. B1 is a base bar; B4 is a top bar. The X assembly, comprising two bars B7 and B8 pivotally attached to each other, is pivotally and slidably attached to B1 and B4, thereby eliminating two unwanted degrees of freedom from the hexagonal assembly without limiting the size of B1 or B4. The actuation means is pivotally attached at knee joints between B2-B3 and B5-B6. To save space and eliminate tripping hazards, the knee joints are concave, so that B2-B3 and B5-B6 do not protrude. When actuated, the linkage lifts a load by modulating a distance between B1 and B4. Mechanical advantage is high. Slidable joints bear modest loads, minimizing wear. None of B4 is cantilevered.

Abstract: A portable, collapsible hunting box enclosure is constructed on a wheeled trailer. The hunting box enclosure may be raised and lowered through a scissor action support structure mounted on the trailer and powered by an electric winch. When the enclosure is to be transported, hinged wall panels enable the box to be folded and collapsed into a flat stack within the trailer. Once collapsed, reinforced wire panels or runners mounted on side members of the trailer rotate inward to overlay the collapsed box, providing a platform upon which an ATV may be loaded. The hunting stand/trailer combination may then be towed, with the ATV loaded thereon, by a full-size motor vehicle. Upon reaching a hunting area, the ATV may be unloaded and used to tow the hunting stand/trailer combination to a specific hunting site where the collapsed box is unfolded, to erect the enclosure, and elevated using the scissor action support structure.

Abstract: Aerial work platform apparatus comprising a vehicle, a work platform, a lift on the vehicle for elevating and lowering the work platform, and a stabilizer for inhibiting tipping over of the apparatus when the work platform is elevated. The stabilizer is mounted on the vehicle for movement between a raised retracted position and a lowered position for engagement with the surface traversed by the vehicle should the apparatus start tipping. A mechanism moves the stabilizer between its raised and lowered positions.

Abstract: A low level scaffold with ball screw drive is a lightweight, mobile, compact, electrically activated, self-erecting, scissor-type lifting platform. The electronic system utilizes an electric motor in direct drive arrangement with a ball screw assembly to vary the platform height from a retracted position to extended position. Electric switches limit reverse direction between the retracted and extended positions to vary platform height anywhere between the minimum and maximum heights above ground level. The design allows for transportation through household doorways and provides anti-tilt arms with threaded level mounts for use on non-level surfaces. The scaffold provides homeowners and small commercial contractors with an apparatus to perform small interior and exterior projects at elevated heights.

Abstract: A flanged link cross tube (1) for use in pivotal connections of beams (10) that locates weld roots (5) to the outer mating surface of beam (10) and flange (4). As the beams (10) rotate about a pivot connection, high torque loading occurs along the common plane (Z) between adjacent beams (10). Locating weld roots (5) on the outer mating surface of beams (10) and flanges (4) reduces loading on weld roots (5) and extends the useful life of a scissors lift (20).
