Escape Of Ladder Type Lowers Upon Release Of Latch Patents (Class 182/74)
  • Patent number: 8882067
Abstract: A guide track system and a bracket assembly thereof for supporting guide tracks thereof are provided. The guide track system comprises a first guide track piece, a second guide track piece, and a bracket assembly configured to support the first and second guide track pieces. The bracket assembly comprises a mounting feature configured to be mounted to a support structure, and a guide track supporting feature connected to the mounting feature and configured to support a portion of the guide track mounted thereon. The guide track supporting feature, in turn, comprises a body having a first end, a second end, and a longitudinal axis extending through the first and second ends, wherein the first end is configured to be coupled with an end of the first guide track piece, and the second end is configured to be coupled with an end of the second guide track piece.

  • Patent number: 5967254
Abstract: An emergency evacuation slide has an internal energy dissipation characteristic so that the slide is especially suitable for evacuation of persons from a relatively great height. By dissipating the energy internally in the slide rather than by frictional heating of the clothing and skin of the evacuating persons, the danger of skin burns and other injuries to the persons is reduced or avoided. The slide surface of the slide is made up of a plurality of slide modules that each include an elastically elongatable segment, an interconnecting segment, and an anti-slip segment, which are respectively connected together one after another. The anti-slip segment has an upper anti-slip surface with a high coefficient of friction so that the anti-slip segment remains in static frictional contact and moves along with the evacuating person. The bottom surface of the anti-slip segment has a predefined coefficient of friction.

  • Patent number: 5875870
Abstract: An escape ladder system generally comprising a housing having an inner chamber; a collapsible ladder unit assembly removably received in the housing inner chamber; a cover plate removably coupled to the housing; and, a control unit assembly coupled to the ladder unit assembly. When in its collapsed configuration, the ladder unit assembly is retained by the control unit assembly within the housing inner chamber. The ladder unit assembly is biased for displacement from the housing inner chamber and extension into its extended configuration responsive to appropriate user actuation of the control unit assembly.

  • Patent number: 5311965
Abstract: A movable type staircase is disclosed, particularly one which is located at the exterior wall or veranda at various floor levels of a building. In an emergency, a safety bar on any floor may be pushed aside to enable the movable staircase to unfold itself and connect rapidly by its own gravity with the veranda or fire exit at a lower floor level. Also by means of the force produced when the movable type staircase is being lowered, a safety bar at the next lower floor level will be further pushed aside to again enable that movable staircase to unfold itself and rapidly connect by its own gravity with still another lower floor level and so on until the various floor levels which are lower than the floor which the user is staying can be connected automatically in a way similar to an indoor staircase. It is a staircase which provides a highly safe and automatic means of escape for people in time of emergency.

  • Patent number: 5303799
Abstract: An emergency escape device for a building wall includes an emergency door mechanism and a control assembly. The emergency door mechanism includes a door panel, a ladder, a rigid support arm and a driving assembly. The door panel is mounted pivotally on the wall and is movable relative to the wall between a closed position, wherein the door panel is flush with the wall, and an open position, wherein the door panel is perpendicular to the wall. The ladder has an upper end which is connected pivotally to the upper end of the door panel and a lower end which extends to the ground surface when the door panel is located in the open position. The support arm is mounted pivotally on the wall below the lower end of the door panel at one end and is connected pivotally to the ladder at the other end thereof so as to prevent swaying of the ladder when the door panel is in the open position. The driving assembly is operable to move the door panel between the closed and open positions.
