Abstract: The present disclosure relates systems and methods involving movable/adjustable guardrails. An example system includes at least one rotating mount having a lower weldment rotatably coupled to an upper weldment. The lower weldment is coupled to a walking surface. The system also includes a guardrail weldment coupled to the upper weldment of the at least one rotating mount. The system additionally includes an actuator configured to controllably adjust a configuration of the guardrail weldment between an extended configuration and a retracted configuration with respect to the walking surface. In some embodiments, the system could include a remote unit configured to control a position of the actuator. For example, the remote unit could include a wired remote controller having a user interface and at least one button.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are attic stair assemblies, in which each attic stair assembly may include: a frame that may include: a first wall; and a second wall; a stair coupled to the frame closer to the first wall than the second wall; a floorboard disposed above the stair; a port extending through the frame and the floorboard; and a support frame removably coupled to the floorboard that may include: a first leg having a first leg upper end, wherein the first leg may be closer to the first wall than the second wall; and a second leg having a second leg upper end, wherein the second leg may be shorter than the first leg and may be closer to the first wall than the second wall; and a rail portion extending from the first leg upper end to the second leg upper end at a first acute angle to the floorboard.

Abstract: A stepladder, which may be in the form of a usual stepladder/stool combination, is provided with safety outboard frame members desirably of inverted U-shape providing upwardly arched hand holds extending upwardly beyond the upper step of the stepladder sufficiently to obstruct lateral movement beyond the ends of such upper step of the legs of a person standing on such upper step. The stepladder/stool combination in particular is preferably provided with a latching arrangement limiting movement of the safety frame members from safety positions during use of the stepladder and for not permitting the stepladder to be placed into condition for use until such safety frame members are in safety positions.
