The opening of the mask (15) is closed by a hard metal sphere (11) which is prestressed into this closure position by a spring (12). When contact is made with a workpiece the sphere is pressed into the cavity (14d) and thereby opens up the opening in the mask (15) for the discharge of lubricating oil.

The housing includes a bottom opening that is substantially aligned with the top opening. When the member is in a first position, the center opening is not aligned with the top and bottom opening, preventing oil from draining from the oil pan. When the member is moved to the second position, the center opening is substantially aligned with the top and bottom openings of the housing, allowing oil to be drained from the oil pan.     Abstract: An apparatus for retrofitting a vehicle for removing spent oil from an oil pan reservoir installed in an access aperture located in a floor bottom of the oil pan reservoir. The device includes a low profile quick connect nipple having a first end threadably sealing into the access aperture and a second end releasably engagable with a mating fitting positioned on an externally located fluid delivery device and further having a fluid tight closure when the second end is disengaged from the fluid delivery device. The apparatus has a center throughbore having a movable member therein. The movable member includes a stem and a circular flared portion. A retainer clip is securely attached to an upper end of the stem. A ring configuration has a center through aperture for receiving the stem and radial connections extending to the periphery of the throughbore. The ring configuration centers the stem and defines a stop for the movable member when the retainer clip contacts the ring configuration.

    Abstract: A locking cover is designed to protectively enclose a lubricant fitting mounted on a cross of a universal joint and cannot be removed after installation without damaging or destroying the locking cover. The locking cover includes a first half and a second half that are joined together by a hinge. Each half includes a generally U-shaped body portion defined by a central web and a pair of opposed leg portions. The first leg has an outwardly extending tang formed thereon having an outwardly extending barb. The second leg has an opening formed therein that terminates in a shoulder. A cover panel extends between the first and second legs defining a partial cavity therebetween. A pair of posts are provided on the cover panel and extend inwardly into the partial cavity defined by the first and second legs and the cover panel. When the locking cover is closed about the lubrication fitting, the tangs are received within the openings such that the barbs engage the associated shoulders.

    Abstract: High pressure check valves and fittings, including button head fittings, sealant fittings, and lubrication adapters, that are equipped with dynamically self-centering plungers. Each metallic fitting comprises a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The inlet end of each may be configured to be mechanically engaged by high pressure hoses, grease guns, or the like. The outlet end is configured, as by threading, for coupling to the desired application. The inlet and outlet are in fluid flow communication, and meet at an internal valve seat. A steel ball forms the check valve element. The ball is dynamically controlled and centered by a dynamic plunger coaxially and slidably disposed in the fitting. A return spring coaxially mounted on the plunger normally urges the ball and the plunger towards the valve seat to close the fitting. A plunger crown is integral with an elongated, dual-diameter shaft. A conical depression in the crown seats the ball for centering.
