  • Patent number: 6155380
Abstract: Grease fed from a grease tank 10 to a metering force feeder 22 is fed into an injection cylinder 30 after the weight of the grease is precisely measured, and the total amount of the grease in the injection cylinder 30 is injected from the nozzle 34. The nozzle 34 can advance toward an electric motor 60. When the nozzle 34 advances, a first packing 50 and a second packing 52 provided on a tip-end face 34a closely contact to an outer ring 66a and an inner ring 66b of a bearing 66, respectively. In the condition, when the grease is injected from an injection hole 34b, the grease is pushed into an operation space of rolling elements 66c of the bearing 66. A grease pocket 68 is also filled with the grease.

  • Patent number: 5782318
Abstract: A bearing lubrication apparatus, including a bearing support stand having a reverse conical stepped cavity therein to support a wheel or other friction bearing assembly, a grease applicator in the form of an open cylinder filled with lubricating grease, and a manually operated piston disposed within the open cylinder to force grease from the cylinder through a bearing raceway supported on one of the horizontal steps of the bearing support stand. As new grease is forced through the bearing raceway, old grease on each individual ball or roller bearing is removed and replaced by new grease. A process for filling the grease applicator involves placing the open cylinder in an inverted position and forcing one open end thereof into a container of highly viscous lubrication grease, placing a finger over the other open end of the cylinder to trap any air therein and create a suction force within the cylinder that retains the contained grease as the cylinder is removed from the grease container.

  • Patent number: 5709284
Abstract: A device for lubricating bearings and the like including a housing for containing a lubricant, and a movable piston adapted to be inserted into the housing in contact with said lubricant. The piston includes an upper concave surface, for communication of the lubricant with a bearing to be lubricated, and a passage for flow of lubricant. Compression of the piston against the lubricant causes flow of lubricant from below the piston to above the piston. An adapter, or volume-filling means, is disposed on the upper piston surface for filing a portion of a volume defined between the upper, concave piston surface and the wheel bearing. The volume-filling means includes lubricant flow passages for allowing lubricant to flow from said upper concave piston surface to the wheel bearing.

  • Patent number: 5423399
Abstract: A system is disclosed for supplying a lubricant to a bearing assembly, such as that in a gyroscope of a spacecraft. The system includes a housing which is connected to the bearing assembly and which forms a pressurized chamber. A collapsible member, such as a bellows, in the pressurized chamber houses a supply of lubricant. One or more valves regulate and control the flow of lubricant from the collapsible member to the bearing assembly. In response to the actuation of the valves, flow of lubricant is caused by pressure exerted on the collapsible member. Lubricant flow conduits may also be formed within the housing, so that lubricant may be provided directly to a portion of the bearing assembly.

  • Patent number: 4932500
Abstract: The lubrication insertions system of the present invention inserts lubricating oil into the critical areas of a bearing. The system comprises a delivery element for delivering lubricating oil to a predetermined point relative to the bearing.
