Patent number: 6733180Abstract: To provide a manufacturing method of a dynamic pressure bearing device and a dynamic pressure bearing device to inject a proper amount of lubricating oil to a bearing unit by using a simple process without leaving air bubbles in the bearing unit. The bearing unit is exposed in an atmosphere of reduced pressure such as in a vacuum chamber or the like to evacuate air in a gap between a shaft body and a bearing. The proper amount of lubricating oil is dropped to an open end of the gap of the bearing unit by using a dispenser. The bearing unit is released to an atmospheric air to fill the lubricating oil into a gap of the bearing unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2002Date of Patent: May 11, 2004Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventor: Junichi Nakamura

Patent number: 6360846Abstract: Apparatus and method for leak testing and adding lubricating oil to enclosed reservoirs of undercarriage components of crawler-type equipment. Barometric pressure is measured by a transducer mounted on a handle from which an elongated wand extends, the wand having a nozzle on the end opposite the handle. The wand is inserted into the reservoir and communication is successively established and terminated between the handle and a source of pressurized nitrogen, a vacuum generator and a source of lubricating oil. After raising the pressure in the reservoir by connecting it to the nitrogen source, pressure is again measured at the end of a wait period to determine if the drop is greater or less than a predetermined amount indicating seal integrity.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2000Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Assignee: CaterpillarInventors: Ronald C. Patent number: 6199663Abstract: A lubrication system includes a fluid reservoir, a housing having an interior with an inlet and an outlet fluidly coupled to the reservoir, a fluid pump configured to pump fluid from the reservoir to the interior of the housing through the inlet and a fluid conduit between the fluid pump and the inlet of the axle housing. The conduit has an inflow portion, an outflow portion, a throat and an aspiration passage. The inflow portion has a first cross sectional area. The outflow portion has a second cross sectional area. The throat extends between the inflow and outflow portions, has an exit proximate the outflow portion and has a third cross sectional area less than the first and second cross sectional areas. The aspiration passage extends from a location proximate the exit of the throat to a source of air. Fluid pumped through the first and second internal portions of the fluid conduit by the fluid pump draws air into the outflow portion through the aspiration passage to aerate the fluid.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1999Date of Patent: March 13, 2001Assignee: Case CorporationInventors: Subrata Roy, David E. Patent number: 6161649Abstract: A device for controlling the flow of an oil mist through barb outlets in a lubricating oil distributor having a mist-receiving chamber into which the barb outlets extend comprises a fitting mounted to the barb to collect oil precipitating and flowing upon the exposed surfaces of the barb and fitting and divert the collected oil away from the mist entranceway of the barb. The collected oil is thus prevented from being entrained by the mist flow through the barbs and increasing the oil output from the distributor.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1998Date of Patent: December 19, 2000Assignee: Uniwave, Inc.Inventor: Elliot M. Patent number: 6003635Abstract: A device for recovering fluid from a reservoir having a lower drain. The device includes a first coupling connectable to a drain of a reservoir and having an internal passage for fluid flow therethrough. A conduit has one end connected to the first coupling for fluid flow into the conduit and a second end opposite the first end with a valve to control fluid flow through the conduit. A probe, defining a fluid passage, has a tip portion for actuating the valve from its normally closed position to an open position upon insertion of the tip portion in the valve to allow fluid flow through the valve and the probe. A portable receptacle is attached to the probe for collecting fluid when the valve is actuated to the open position. A portable pump reduces the pressure in the receptacle to draw fluid through the conduit and into the receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1998Date of Patent: December 21, 1999Assignee: Kwik-Konnect, Inc.Inventors: Michael R. Patent number: 3968939Abstract: Disclosed herein is mechanism for lubricating the traverse portion of winding apparatus. The lubricating mechanism includes an atomizing system for introducing an oil mist into a housing which generally encloses a traverse cam mounted for rotation on suitable bearings within the housing. The oil mist is effective to lubricate the various parts of the traverse system notwithstanding that the traverse cam may be rotating at speeds of 7,000 r.p.m. and higher. The housing enclosing the traverse cam is provided with a slot through which a strand guide, attached to a cam follower, projects. The cam follower is engaged in an endless groove in the traverse cam and as the traverse cam is rotated the guide is reciprocated from end to end of the traverse cam groove and is thus operable to distribute an advancing strand with which it is engaged onto a rotating package.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1975Date of Patent: July 13, 1976Assignee: Leesona CorporationInventor: William Malcolm Bense
