Abstract: A dual-occupancy aircraft minisuite incorporating a modular multiple-egress door assembly is disclosed. In embodiments, the dual-occupancy minisuite can accommodate two passengers in enhanced privacy. Access to (and egress from) the minisuite is through the modular multiple-egress door assembly, which provides forward and rear (relative to the egress gap between) sets of outer, intermediate, and inner doors. The outer doors translate laterally along rails in the intermediate doors, and the intermediate doors likewise translate laterally along rails in the inner doors, to open the minisuite for passenger access or direct view (or to close the minisuite for enhanced privacy). The forward and rear sets of doors are proportioned such that when any forward or rear translating door is jammed in a closed position, the remaining egress gap is of sufficient width to provide a distinct and independent emergency egress path for each occupying passenger of at least minimum required width.

The car door subassembly includes: a car door, a door mover, and first and second vanes supported for movement relative to the car door. The hoistway door subassembly includes: a hoistway door; a locking member that selectively locks the hoistway door; and a coupler member associated with the locking member. When the car door is adjacent the hoistway door: the first vane moves into contact with the coupler member and causes the locking member to move into an unlocked position, prior to movement of the car and hoistway doors; and the second vane is retained in a non-blocking position by the coupler member. When the car door is not adjacent the hoistway door, movement of the car door toward the open position moves the second vane into a blocking position in which further movement of the car door is inhibited.

  • Patent number: 7350623
Abstract: An elevator door apparatus includes an engaging device which engages car doors with hall doors. The engaging device uses a spring unit to urge a movable vane provided in each of the car doors. While the doors are moving, engaging rollers supported by the hall doors are sandwiched between the movable vane and a fixed vane. Thus, the driving forces of the car doors are transmitted to the hall doors. When the hall doors reach a door stop position, the movable vane is moved away from the fixed vane. Thus, the car doors are disengaged from the hall doors. At this time, a direction in which the elastic force of the spring mechanism acts is switched. Consequently, the car doors and the hall doors are stably held so that the car doors remain disengaged from the hall doors.
