  • Patent number: 7017714
Abstract: There is provided a double-deck elevator which does not cause any impacts or vibrations on each cage when adjusting the spacing in the vertical direction between upper and lower cages. Loads on an upper support beam from right and left support arms for hoisting and supporting the upper cage are measured by right and left upper measuring units. Similarly, loads on a lower support beam from right and left support arms for hoisting and supporting the lower cage are measured by right and left lower measuring units. Because the magnitude of the loads on the right and left screw shafts can be obtained correctly, any impacts or vibrations caused on each cage can be prevented when adjusting the spacing in the vertical direction by correctly controlling the drive torque output from right and left drive motors.

Abstract: The invention features a system for displaying video information to passengers of an elevator in accordance with a play list defining a sequence of messages. The video information messages can include combinations of digital advertising, “real-time” general information, as well as, building-related information. The system includes an elevator display unit having a display monitor for displaying video information to the passengers, and a local server which, receives scheduling information associated with the video information over a data communication path and, in accordance with the scheduling information, generates a play list used to display at the elevator display unit.

Abstract: A method and a device for determining the state of a rail stretch utilize a receiver that is moved along the rail stretch to receive radio signals transmitted by at least three transmitters mounted in the elevator shaft. Spacing data is determined from the radio signals and is compared by an evaluating unit with reference data of the spacing to generate a result with respect to the state of the rail stretch. The positions of rail fastenings, connecting straps and shaft doors can be detected by additional sensors also moved along the rail stretch and are represented in a correction protocol to permit an efficient adjusting of the rail stretch.

  • Patent number: 6801792
Abstract: A method for communication with a transportation system utilizes a human-machine interface with a control unit that constantly checks for the presence of contactlessly communicating information carriers. If a user with an information carrier is located in the reception range, the control unit requires the information carrier to transfer at least identification data of the user to the control unit. The control unit then displays an individualized communication surface matched to the respective user on the basis of the received data.

  • Publication number: 20040178024
Abstract: An elevator system includes an elevator car having a car door, a drive unit for moving the elevator car along an elevator shaft wall provided with shaft doors and a controller for controlling movement of the elevator car along the elevator shaft wall. A separate fault detecting device is mounted in a region of each of the shaft doors and in a region of the car door for generating fault information to controller. A status detecting unit generates to the controller status information about a position and a speed of the elevator car. In the case of a fault in the region of one of the shaft doors, the controller permits operation of the elevator car between those floors that can be reached by the elevator car without having to pass the floor at the shaft door where the fault has occurred.
