  • Patent number: 9004246
Abstract: A system for damping oscillations in a structure provides two masses that can be controlled to rotate at the frequency of oscillation of the structure and in opposite directions about axes of rotation transverse to the direction of the oscillations. The masses have individually controllable moments of inertia, and when their moments of inertia are equal a harmonic linear force is generated. The phases of the rotating masses can be individually controlled whereby the direction of the resulting harmonic linear force can be controlled. The moments of inertia can be controlled by shifting their centers of gravity relative to the respective axes of rotation.

  • Patent number: 8827053
Abstract: The present invention relates to a self-amplifying electromechanical partial lining disc brake, having a ramp mechanism as a self-amplification device. According to the invention, a rack for driving a friction brake pad is situated between roller elements of the ramp mechanism, particularly at a geometrical centroid of an imaginary surface defined by the roller elements. As a result a load is distributed to the roller elements in a more uniform fashion and the pressing force of the friction brake pad against a brake disc when the partial lining disc brake is actuated is distributed more uniformly and counteracts irregular pad wear.

  • Patent number: 8312972
Abstract: Brake equipment for holding and braking an elevator car in an elevator installation, which is arranged to be movable along a brake track in two directions of travel, includes a mount with a brake lining which automatically adjusts under friction couple with the brake track on movement of the elevator car relative to the rail and in that case tightens a first tightening means, which can be released by an actuator. The first tightening means tightens the mount together with the brake lining against the brake track by a biasing force. The brake equipment produces, with unmoved brake equipment and an unreleased state of the actuator, a holding force acting in both directions of travel. The holding force is determined substantially by the biasing force acting on the mount.

  • Patent number: 6823969
Abstract: A braking device acts on a guide rail and consists of a housing that is arranged at an elevator car yoke and serves as a support for spring packets and/or for adjusting packets. The housing also serves as a support and guide for chock guide elements that in turn retain and guide brake chocks with brake linings. Pushrods engage at one end at the brake chocks, and at the other end are pivotably connected to an actuating fork. Upon braking of the elevator car, the actuating fork is moved at the pushrod end in the direction of the braking device. The guided brake chocks with the brake linings slide in the braking device. At the same time the brake linings are moved at the guide leg of the guide rail. The brake chocks are moved in the braking device and the spring and adjusting packets are stressed, whereby a braking force for stopping an elevator car or a counterweight is generated.
