  • Patent number: 9758141
Abstract: An initialization method for an EMB may include: opening an in-valve for controlling a flow path through which brake oil is introduced from a master cylinder, closing an out-valve for controlling a flow path through which the brake oil is transferred to an accumulator part, and driving a motor to move a master piston forward; when the master piston is moved by a preset distance after coming in contact with a slave piston which is brought in contact with an inner pad, closing the in-valve and driving the motor to move the master piston backward; when the contact between the master piston and the slave piston is released, determining whether a gap between the master piston and the slave piston is equal to or more than a preset gap; and when the gap is equal to or more than the preset gap, ending initialization of the EMB.

  • Patent number: 7942247
Abstract: In a vehicle disk brake, a motor housing houses in a housing recess a case into which an end of an output shaft liquid-tightly protrudes, and is mounted to a caliper body. A reduction mechanism having an output rotating member is sealed in the case while part of the output rotating member fluid-tightly protrudes from the case so as to be coaxially and operatively connected to a rear portion of the screw shaft. Grease is charged into the case. Thus, the case for housing the reduction mechanism is simply configured while preventing leakage of the grease charged into the case, and mounting of the case to the caliper body is facilitated.

  • Publication number: 20090272608
Abstract: An electric braking system is provided for a road vehicle that includes at least two wheels (1) each connected for rotation to at least one rotary electric machine (2), with each rotary electric machine (2) cooperating with a single wheel; and at least one electronic wheel control module (23) controlling an electric machine of a corresponding wheel, with each electronic control module enabling a control torque of determined amplitude and sign to be imparted selectively to a corresponding wheel, such that the corresponding wheel imparts to the vehicle a drive force or a braking force in accordance with the control torque. The electric braking system includes at least two sub-systems (A and B) connected to a central electric line (40).

  • Publication number: 20090234548
Abstract: The invention relates to a holding brake for track-bound motor vehicles (1) with the holding brake being realized by means of at least one electric machine (2) which has a rotor and a stator. A control system for the electric machine is hereby provided to so control the operation of the electric machine (2) that the position of the rotor in the stator remains constant when exposed to an external torque. In other words, the electric motor (2) is used as holding brake instead of a pneumatic holding brake. In this way, the holding brake is advantageously not subject to any wear since the holding forces are produced magnetically and not by mechanical forces. In addition, no noise is generated by the use of the holding brake according to the invention. Furthermore, a starting jolt is prevented, when the electric motor (2) used as a holding brake is also used as a drive motor.

  • Patent number: 6970761
Abstract: Based on the realization that, at the instant a holding brake in the drive of a machine tool is actuated, it may not be necessary to precisely observe the setpoint values, it may be provided to adapt control parameters in the controller of the drive such that, given an engaged holding brake, oscillations may be avoided or substantially reduced. By applying a correction value to the controller, it may be possible to prevent the adaptation of the control parameters from resulting in a change at the output of the controller.

  • Patent number: 4921463
Abstract: A coin sorter having a rotatable disc includes a brake mechanism for stopping rotation of the disc in response to a predetermined number of counted coins. The disc is driven through a gear train by an electric motor. The brake mechanism includes an electromagnetic actuating assembly and an armature mounted on the shaft of a motor. Upon energization of the actuating assembly, the armature is drawn into contact with the actuating assembly to provide a braking pressure which halts rotation of the motor and the disc.
