Abstract: A towbar controlled steering system is disclosed. A towbar pivots about a pivot point on a wagon front axle, with steering rods connected to steered wheels. At the towbar, the steering rods are attached to a carriage that moves ends of the steering rods in front of (towing position) or behind (backing position) the towbar pivot point. When backing, the wheels are steered in opposite directions as sideways towbar displacement. An automated system senses towbar angle and attenuates steering sensitivity while backing to keep the wagon along a backwards track defined by the tow vehicle.
Abstract: A pressure medium brake system for a motor vehicle such as a racing vehicle having at least one axle with two wheels and respectively assigned wheel brake cylinders includes devices for determining a cornering of the motor vehicle. A respective wheel brake cylinder of the axle can be controlled as a function of the curve.

Abstract: A vapor-phase tubular reactor in a shell heat exchanger for removal of the heat of reaction at essentially isothermal conditions has porous wicking surface applied to the external surface of reactor tubes. The porous wicking surface on the reactor tubes draws liquid heat transfer fluid from a reservoir at the bottom of the wicked tube section and provides enhanced evaporative cooling. The invention is particularly useful for highly exothermic reactions or when reaction selectivity is negatively affected by high temperature excursions.
Abstract: A sealing apparatus for use in a well in connection with oil or gas production includes a seal and a pressure compensator. The seal is an inflatable, balloon-type well seal. The seal has a first cavity and is bears against an inner surface of a tubular surface. The pressure compensator is associated with the seal and includes a cylinder having a second cavity. The second cavity is in fluid communication with the first cavity. The cylinder has a reciprocatingly slidable piston positioned therein. The piston has first and second piston surfaces of different areas at opposite sides of the piston. The first piston surface is exposed to a first pressure value within the first cavity and the second piston surface is exposed to a second pressure value within the well.
Abstract: A liquid pressure braking system for a vehicle has a master cylinder which is connected to the brake operating motor cylinder on each front wheel of the vehicle through a respective liquid pressure intensifier. Each intensifier has a differential area piston. The differential liquid pressure on the piston, which tends to close the valve and render the intensifier effective to increase the liquid pressure at its outlet as compared with its liquid pressure inlet, is opposed by a spring which reacts against a stepped plunger. The plunger projects towards a link 18 of a mechanism which interconnects suspension components of the two front wheels.
