Abstract: A truck mounted braking system is provided with a mechanical pivot adjustment on the bake lever connected to the brake cylinder push rod to permit the braking force applied to the wheels to vary depending on the lading condition of the car, without involving additional pneumatic elements such as a pneumatic empty load device. The brake cylinder may be provided with a channel which permits the push rod to achieve different positions based on different positions of the brake cylinder push rod.
Abstract: A low weight and low cost brake beam assembly having high static strength and fatigue resistance having two independent brake heads each including a receiving section for receiving and retaining an end of a tension member, an end of a compression member and a portion of an end extension.
Abstract: A spare brake beam for railway cars which can be quickly and easily installed in a train car without the necessity of cutting the car from the train nor dismantling the car nor the truck.

Abstract: A method of adjusting the lever ratio of the brake system by adjusting the pivot points of the lever to the beam and the actuator elements to the lever. The brake beams each include a pair of spaced beam members connected by weldments which may include actuator mounts, hand brake fulcrum plates and brake heads. The brake head is welded to a back plate welded to the beam member and may be removed from the back plate by cutting the weld therebetween.
