Ground-engaging Patents (Class 188/23)
  • Patent number: 7891478
Abstract: A moveable coin bin assembly for holding a plurality of coins is disclosed. The moveable coin bin includes a coin bin housing (121) for receiving coins, the coin bin housing being disposed on wheels (124, 126) for movement, a handle assembly (228) including an elongated handle (232, 234) having an upper end for gripping (230) and a lower end for coupling and de-coupling to the coin bin housing. The handle assembly (228) further includes a latching and retaining mechanism (240) for coupling to the coin bin housing in a motion along a floor, wherein said latching and retaining mechanism is releasable by a user to de-couple the handle assembly from the coin bin housing. The coin bin (122) includes a brake system that can be selectively applied by a detachable handle (228). The bin (122) can be used with a coin collecting machine (10) includes a motorized funnel system (63) for funneling coins to a plurality of coin collecting apertures (170, 172) in the bin for even distribution.

  • Publication number: 20100108447
Abstract: A storm brake for a truck assembly supporting a large industrial device, wherein the truck assembly includes a truck chassis having a mount to support the device and a wheel engaging a raceway along which the truck assembly and device are to travel, the storm brake including: a storm brake shoe pivotably mounted to the truck chassis, wherein the storm brake shoe has a first pivot position in which the brake does not engage the raceway and a second pivot position in which the brake engages the raceway, wherein the storm brake shoe pivots in a direction generally aligned with a direction movement of the truck assembly along the raceway; an actuator having an extendable linkage coupled to the storm brake shoe and at an opposite end to a fixed mounting on the truck chassis, wherein extension of the linkage pivots the storm brake from the first position to the second position, and the fixed mounting provides a slidable engagement between the opposite end of the actuator and the truck chassis.

  • Patent number: 7337890
Abstract: A removable coin storage apparatus is used in a coin processing device, and includes a removable bin for storing and transporting coins. The removable bin has a stopped position and a moving position. The coin storage apparatus further includes a brake device that is pivotally coupled to the removable bin for preventing movement of the removable bin in the stopped position. The brake device has a manually moveable element that is movable between a first position and a second position, each one of the first position and the second position corresponding to one of the stopped position and the moving position of the removable bin. The brake device also has a contact surface for exerting a frictional force on a floor surface in the stopped position of the removable bin.

  • Patent number: 7036636
Abstract: The portable brake of the present invention comprises a top bracket, a bottom bracket, a leg, a handle, a toggle plate, and a foot. The top bracket of the portable brake has a back plate, side plates, a bottom plate, a toggle joint, a rung hook, and a leg sheath. The bottom bracket comprises a back plate, side plates, a bottom plate, a rung hook, and a leg sheath. The top and bottom brackets secure a leg, which passes through the leg sheaths of the brackets and leg apertures in the bottom plates of the brackets. A toggle plate is connected at one end to the top of the leg, and is connected at the other end to a pair of hinge plates. The hinge plates are, in turn, connected to a handle and to the toggle joint of the top bracket.

  • Patent number: 6098761
Abstract: A locking assembly for a wheeled transportation cart, comprising an adjustment member in rotatable engagement with the frame of the wheeled cart. The adjustment member is selectively adjustable between a locked position thereby preventing rolling movement of the wheeled cart, and an unlocked position thereby allowing rolling movement of the wheeled cart. The adjustment member contains a first knee formed by a first bent section in the adjustment member which is engaged between a first locking element and a first locking channel, and a second knee formed by a second bent section in the adjustment member which is engaged between a second locking element and a second locking channel. As the adjustment member rotates between the locked and the unlocked positions, the adjustment member forces the first and second locking elements downward toward a support surface and engages a first and second locking assembly spring means to urge the first and second locking elements into contact with the support surface.

  • Patent number: 4109740
Abstract: The stair-climbing device is suitable for transporting a load up or down a flight of steps. The device includes a frame on which the load is seated and a number of load-bearing shoes which engage successive steps in the flight of steps to produce displacement of the device along the flight of steps. The shoes are pivotally connected to sprocket chains which are activated by a reversible electric motor. An arm is pivotally connected to the frame and is provided with a sensing head disposed forward of wheels on which the device rolls. As the device rolls forward on the tread of a step, the sensing head contacts the tread until it is beyond the forward edge whereupon the head falls with resulting pivotal movement of the arm.
