In order to prevent fibers detached from the fiber material (V) from settling between the inner surface (IF) of the drive element (20) and the peripheral surface (AU) of the projection (13), the suction drum (14), on the end face (35) having the projection (13), has a peripheral elevation (36) and the drive element (20) on the side (46) directed toward the end face (35) of the suction drum (14) has a peripheral recess (37), wherein the elevation (36) protrudes into the recess (37) a labyrinth seal.

Abstract: In a V-belt type continuously variable transmission for utility vehicle, a transmission case assembly covering a drive pulley assembly and a driven pulley assembly is provided. The transmission case assembly includes a transmission case main body, and a transmission cover attached to a cover attachment surface of the transmission case main body. The cover attachment surface is inclined with respect to a vertical plane which is orthogonal to a crankshaft, and the transmission cover is attached to the cover attachment surface by a plurality of bolts removed and inserted in the direction orthogonal to the cover attachment surface.

Abstract: A braking unit is provided. In one embodiment, the braking unit comprises a base member, a guide member, a flexible rod, an actuator adapted to induce deformation of the rod, and a brake pad. One end of the flexible rod is fixedly attached to the base member while another end is slideably disposed within a passageway defined by the guide member. The brake pad is positioned adjacent the flexible rod such that deformation of the rod causes lateral movement of the brake pad. The braking unit can be incorporated into disc and drum-type braking assemblies and systems.

Abstract: A disk brake assembly has a housing mounted to a vehicle and a rotor disk mounted to a wheel of the vehicle. Upon expansion of an annular flexible bladder during a brake action, a first brake shoe moves towards the rotor disk and causes the rotor disk to move towards the second brake shoe resulting frictional engagement between the respective brake shoes and the rotor disk. The first brake shoe is deformable under uneven and variable forces resulting from imperfect machining and uneven wearing of the rotor disk. An annular brake pad is attached to first brake shoe using a layer of resilient and deformable material to improve the resilience of the first brake shoe.
Abstract: A brake assembly includes a rotor and at least one backplate supporting a brake pad for frictionally engaging the rotor for braking. A sheet metal plate is operatively connected to the back plate. The sheet metal plate has a groove cut therethrough to form at least one tuning fork member. A damping material is engaged with the at least one tuning fork member for damping energy associated with vibrations of the tuning fork member, thereby sound-dampening brake squeal noise.

The first adjusting mechanism includes a cam member that engages a portion of a lever member. The cam member includes a plurality of cam surfaces. Each brake disengagement position corresponds to a corresponding position of brake shoes.
Abstract: The present invention provides a brake that allows an object to rotate continually through its full range of movement, but allows the object to be reliably secured at any position within this range. The object is carried by a brake that includes a deformable cylindrical collar and a lever. Normally, a spring exerts force against the lever, which in turn exerts pressure on the collar, causing the interior diameter of the collar to become smaller. The collar then grasps the rod and prevents the rotation of the brake relative to the rod. A pneumatically controlled piston counters the force of the spring to allow the brake to rotate freely.
Abstract: A band brake device used to apply a brake to a rotating drum forming part of an automatic transmission of an automotive vehicle. The band brake device comprises a brake band wrapped around the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum. A lining material is bonded to the inner surface of the brake band to be contactable with the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum. The brake band is provided at its movable end with a bracket which is adapted to be pushed by a piston of a hydraulic servo device. The bracket is connected through a link to a casing, so that the movable end is guided to be move in a direction generally parallel with a tangential direction of the outer peripheral surface of the drum at a position adjacent the movable end.

Abstract: A casing brake is disclosed for use in combination with a generally tubular stuffing horn over which casing is released for filling with material discharged from the horn. The brake is of the type which includes a rigid housing which retains a deformable insert that fits over the horn and cooperates with the horn to engage the casing against the horn. Thus casing brake includes a first annular insert that has a throughbore with a circumferential groove on the inside of the throughbore with a second annular inner member which is comprised of a helical coil positioned within the groove, the inner member preferably being comprised of polytetrafluoroethylene with the outer member being elastically deformable with respect to the inner member to thereby alter the effective diameter of the groove causing an increase or decrease the diameter of the coil which, in turn, more loosely or more tightly grips the outside surface of the casing as it passes over the horn.

Abstract: A band brake assembly for a bicycle includes a brake band having a brake lining and a brake drum to which the brake lining is urged by a brake operating cable in braking. According to the invention, the band brake assembly comprises a wire guide whose front half is in the form of an arc and fixed to an operative end of the brake band and whose rear half extends in a tangential direction of the brake band. An inner wire of the brake operating cable extends rearward along an outer surface of the wire guide and is fixed to a rear end of the wire guide. With this arrangement, the lining, brake band, wire guide and inner wire form a multiple or laminated connection to permit these members to shift slightly with each other when braking, thereby preventing resonance and absorbing or damping vibration caused in braking.
Abstract: A friction band comprising an arcuate band or strap made of a filament-reinforced plastic material. The plastic material is preferably a thermosetting epoxy which provides a matrix in which are embedded or encapsulated a plurality of long-strand continuous filaments of glass or the like. The band is lined with a friction lining, and is reinforced by a fibrous bleeder cloth between the band and the friction lining. A special fixture applies tension to the band assembly to hold the filaments in tension during the curing of the plastic material forming the matrix of the band.

Abstract: An end connection for a replacement transmission brake band enables the band to be inserted longitudinally into the space between transmission drum and housing. The end connection comprises a removable bracket which is made part of the modified replacement transmission brake band. The bracket is placed on the modified transmission brake band after insertion of the modified transmission brake band into the space between transmission housing and brake drum. The bracket replaces the former permanently mounted end connection of the modified transmission brake band. The invention includes a method for converting a conventional end connection to the replaceable end construction of the present invention.
Abstract: A brake device for a friction press having a flywheel for driving a vertical threaded shaft, the flywheel being positioned between a pair of friction discs, the flywheel being driven in one direction or the other by the respective wheels.
