Abstract: The toilet system described herein provides a solution for men who fail to close the toilet seat or lid after use. By automatically closing the lid or seat, the toilet system also reduces toilet access to young children and pets. Its dimensions and installation are the same as an industry standard toilet seat but with selectable automatic closure of the seat or lid after use. The power source, electronics and mechanical actuator are all located within the lid. Tilt and position sensors determine the positions of the seat and lid, distance or proximity sensors detect when the toilet is not in use and after a delay the actuator selectively moves the seat or lid to a closed position.
Abstract: The present invention provides a rotary damper in which both yields and braking characteristics can be enhanced. The rotary damper of the invention includes a valve mechanism which comprises an operating chamber 7 through which fluid can pass, a valve body 8 which forwardly moves from a natural state position when the valve body 8 receives fluid pressure and which can forwardly moves in the operating chamber 7, and a first spring 9 capable of giving a resistance to the forward movement of the valve body 8. The valve mechanism can reduce a flow rate of fluid which passes through the operating chamber 7 by a flow path 14 formed between the valve body 8 and a peripheral wall 7a of the operating chamber 7. A reducing amount of fluid can be increased as a moving distance of the valve body 8 which forwardly moves in the operating chamber 7 is increased.

Abstract: Shock absorber components, such as a radial bypass damper, an anti-cavitation valve (ACV) and an incremental flow metering valve IFMV. The damper is of a continuous, unitary construction with a main hole and auxiliary holes interconnected by passageways. The ACV has openings that angle obliquely relative to entry surfaces of valving shims and extend at an incline continuously through the valving shims. The metering valve linearly regulates flow, substantially independent of piston displacement.
Abstract: A damping device utilizing a viscous fluid to stabilize rotational movement of a shaft. The damper includes a cylindrical body with multiple chambers containing a viscous fluid and a rotor with multiple vanes rotatably mounted within the body. The rotor has a hollow cylindrical center with passages that allow communication of fluid during rotational movement between the compressing and expanding chambers. A centrally located and axially adjustable valve acts to restrict the flow of fluid through the passages and thereby adjust the damping effect of the damper.

Abstract: A retrofit accessory to be installed by the layman to a domestic toilet, which locks the lid, or lid and seat, in the upright position while in use, and automatically lowers them gently when flushed. Additionally, the accessory to automatically dispense toilet bowl cleaner and/or deodorant spray and to lock the lid in the closed position when desired.
