Patent number: 11702048Abstract: A braking apparatus for stopping a children's kick scooter is described. The braking apparatus comprises a hand-held remote control to transmit a command signal when a radio-frequency (RF) signal transmitter is activated. The braking apparatus also comprises a remote control signal receiver located on the children's kick scooter to receive the command signal and convert it to an electric current. The braking apparatus additionally comprises a linear actuator to receive the electric current. The linear actuator comprises a linear actuator electric motor and a linear actuator shaft. The linear actuator electric motor is activated by the electric current and moves the linear actuator shaft from a first position to a second position. The braking apparatus further comprises a brake system to press a metal plate against a rear wheel of the children's kick scooter, thereby stopping the children's kick scooter when the linear actuator shaft is in the second position.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2020Date of Patent: July 18, 2023Inventor: Alexander Kandemir

Patent number: 10907830Abstract: A combustion chamber arrangement comprises an annular combustion chamber, a plurality of circumferentially arranged vanes and a radially inner sealing ring. The vanes are arranged at the axially downstream end of the annular combustion chamber. Each of the vanes comprises an aerofoil extending radially between a radially inner platform and a radially outer platform. The radially inner sealing ring forms a seal between a downstream end of a radially inner annular wall structure of the combustion chamber and the radially inner platforms of the vanes. A portion of the axial length of the radially inner sealing ring comprises a radially inner wall and a radially outer wall spaced radially from the radially inner wall to define a chamber. The radially inner wall has apertures to supply coolant into the chamber and the radially outer wall has effusion cooling apertures to supply coolant onto the surface of the radially outer wall.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2018Date of Patent: February 2, 2021Inventors: David P. Publication number: 20130068570Abstract: A system for operating a locomotive parking brake includes a wheel brake, a coupling connected to the wheel brake, and means for applying force to the coupling. A sensor connected to the coupling measures a force applied to the coupling and generates a signal reflective of the force applied to the coupling. A method for operating a locomotive parking brake includes applying a force to a coupling connected to a wheel brake, measuring the force applied to the coupling, and comparing the force applied to the coupling to a first predetermined limit. The method further includes indicating that the force applied to the coupling is equal to or greater than the first predetermined limit.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 16, 2011Publication date: March 21, 2013Applicant: Graham-White Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Leonard Wedge, David Colatosti

Patent number: 6851522Abstract: A brake attachment apparatus is provided for a wheelchair and includes a wheelchair connector assembly for connecting to the wheelchair, a brake operator arm which extends horizontally along a portion of the wheelchair, a brake operator arm hinge connected to the wheelchair connector assembly for connecting the brake operator arm to the wheelchair connector assembly, and a wheel brake member connected to the brake operator arm. When a patient rises from a sitting position in the wheelchair or is in a standing position and sits down in the wheelchair, the patient exerts downward pressure on the brake operator arm, and that downward pressure is transmitted to the wheel brake member for applying braking pressure on the wheels of the wheelchair to prevent the wheelchair from moving.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2003Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Inventor: Larry V. Patent number: 5003888Abstract: An applicator for applying two rail fasteners at right angle to a rail. The applicator incorporates a pair of applicator arms pivoted midway between their ends and having an hydraulic ram connected between their upper ends. This enables the abutment faces on the lower ends of the applicator arms to be moved in unison toward the rail fasteners or away from them. The applicator also incorporates a brake mechanism which contacts the wheel of the applicator which rides the rail. This brake mechanism is adjustable to adjust the height of the applicator arms above the rail tie so that when the applicator is stopped the applicator abutment faces are at the correct height.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1989Date of Patent: April 2, 1991Assignee: McKay Australia LimitedInventor: Richard W. Patent number: 4793445Abstract: A caster brake assembly simultaneously brakes separate caster wheels, one swiveling and one non-swiveling, of a movable caster-wheel supported article. It includes a bracket mounted to the bottom of the article, a longitudingal frame assembly vertically slidably mounted to the bracket, brake shoes mounted at the ends of the frame assembly, and a cam member pivotably mounted to the frame assembly and operable against the bracket to force the frame assembly downward relative to the bracket and to brakingly engage the brake shoes against the wheels.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1987Date of Patent: December 27, 1988Assignee: Babcock Industries, Inc.Inventors: Herbert E.
