  • Patent number: 7192100
Abstract: A self propelled power machine is provided with a drive system and a traction lock mechanism. The drive system includes a speed range selector and associated mechanism that can operate the power machine in high and low speed ranges. The traction lock mechanism, when applied stops the drive system from moving the wheels of the power machine. A controller insures the drive system is in the low speed range prior to engaging the traction lock mechanism. The controller determines whether the drive system is operating in a low speed range or a high speed range. If the drive system is in the high speed range, the controller places the drive system in the low speed range and the controller then applies the traction lock after a short time delay to provide some dynamic slowing of the drive. If the system is already in the low speed range, the drive system remains there and the controller applies the traction lock.

  • Patent number: 7108108
Abstract: A device for clamping a rod to stop axial and/or rotative movement between the rod and the device. The device includes pressure and clamp units, the clamp unit having a bushing fixed therein and provided with a radially resilient center section normally sized to permit movement of the rod therein. The pressure unit has an actuating piston normally held under fluid pressure in one position but movable under spring pressure toward a second position should the fluid pressure be lost or released. Such movement results in the application of pressure to the bushing to radially deflect its center section inwardly into clamping engagement with the rod to stop its movement. The center section remains clamped on the rod until sufficient fluid pressure is applied to the actuating piston to move it back to its first position thus permitting radial expansion of the center section to release the rod for movement.

  • Patent number: 6915883
Abstract: An electric braking apparatus is disclosed in which a rotational movement from a motor is converted into linear movement that moves a brake piston to generate braking force. The electric brake apparatus can perform full parking brake function without sacrificing its original braking function. In operation, immediately after generation of braking force caused by rotation of the rotor (26) supply of electricity to the motor is turned off. After supply of electricity is turned off, however, the rotor (26) is restricted from returning to its original position due to an engagement with an engaging claw (54) via a claw wheel (50), thereby keeping the barking brake remain effective. When electricity is thereafter supplied to the motor, the rotor (26) generates rotational torque sufficiently strong to push down the engaging claw (54) for disengagement, thereby releasing the parking brake.

  • Patent number: 6170615
Abstract: A braking device of a three wheel baby car is disclosed. When a moving baby car is desired to be braked, the user only needs to move the protrusion of the braking device between the two rear wheel so as to drive the ejecting notches on the edge of long axis of a rotary portion within the braking device to engage with the inner ends of braking ejecting rods on the two sides. Thus, the original long axis contact with the inner end of the braking ejecting rod is changed as short axis contact. As a result, the braking rods on the two sides will be pushed outwards so that the two ends of the braking ejecting rod directly runs across the respect groove formed on the rear wheels. Accordingly, by this braking device, the baby car will be braked steadily.

  • Patent number: 6148942
Abstract: A self-propelled motorized infant stroller powered by DC electric motors with safely controlled acceleration and deceleration. As a discrete safety function, the controlled acceleration and deceleration prevents the child occupant from lurching, either forward or backward, upon the starting or stopping of the baby carriage. A single speed control dial establishes the setting of the desired traversing speed. The propulsion system is safely controlled through the use of a set of dual handle switches that both must be simultaneously depressed to start the propulsion system. A safety seat harness is used to protect the infant occupant from sliding or climbing out of the carriage seat. Additional safety is provided by a parking brake system to prevent accidental propulsion or any unforeseen stroller movement, particularly when stopped on an inclined surface.

  • Patent number: 6116103
Abstract: A threaded leadscrew moves axially within the housing of a linear actuator. The leadscrew's movement rotates a threaded gear nut that surrounds the leadscrew. Stopping the gear nut rotation prevents leadscrew translation. The locking mechanism for selectively blocking rotation of the gear nut includes a cam mounted on the housing, which connects remotely to a user actuated handle. A lever, which mounts on the cam, has a tooth movable between adjacent teeth on the gear nut. The cam also has a blocker that engages the lever. When the cam is in the closed position, the blocker prevents the lever from moving to its released position away from the gear nut's teeth. When the cam is moved to the released position, the blocker releases the lever and allows it to move away from the gear nut. The lever has an opening that is somewhat bigger than a pin on the cam that extends into the opening. When the pin reaches one surface of the opening, it pulls the lever out of its engaged position.

  • Patent number: 5568844
Abstract: A braking apparatus performs its braking action by pressing a brake bush radially inwardly against a rod. The brake bush is pressed via a plurality of coned disk springs, each of which has a plurality of outer and inner radial recesses extending from its outer and inner peripheral edges, respectively. The outer and inner recesses are arranged in an alternating fashion along the circumference of the spring. As a brake piston moves in the axial direction of the rod, the inner peripheral edge of each of the springs is compressed or deformed radially inwardly. The brake piston is moved by compressed air supplied from outside. By increasing the radial length of each of the inner radial recesses of the coned disk springs in such a manner that the radial outward end of the recess is located far beyond the radial inward end of each adjacent outer radial recess, it is permitted to provide at least three or more coned disk springs around the brake bush.
