  • Patent number: 8235184
Abstract: A disc brake apparatus that can keep a stable contact state between a torque transmitting part of a brake pad and a torque receiving part of a mounting, so as to reliably suppress a brake noise phenomenon. At the time of forward braking where a main body member of a brake pad is pressed against a disc rotor, the rotational moment acting on the main body member of the brake pad from the disc rotor is absorbed by the main body member rotating relative to a forward braking torque transmitting member about one pin joint, so as to be restrained from being transmitted to the forward braking torque transmitting member. As a result, the respective contact states between two torque transmitting protrusions formed in the forward braking torque transmitting member of the brake pad and torque receiving surfaces formed in a forward braking torque receiving part of a mounting are held stable.

  • Patent number: 8191690
Abstract: A shim structure is provided for damping vibration and attenuating noise in a brake system. The brake system includes a forcing member operable to urge a friction member against a rotating member to slow or stop the same. The shim structure includes a shim body that is adapted to be interposed within the brake system. The shim body includes one or more tabs that are configured to oscillate out-of-phase with vibrations generated by the brake system during urging of the friction member against the rotating member to thereby dissipate vibrational energy generated by the brake system. The dimensions, orientation, and/or location of each tab are selected or engineered to provide predetermined levels of vibration and noise attenuation. A mass may be attached to each tab. The geometry, location, and/or size of each mass may be selectively modified to provide predetermined levels of vibration and noise attenuation.

  • Patent number: 8042656
Abstract: The strength and rigidity of pad springs are increased with a simple structure to prevent deformation and so forth of the pad springs caused by external force. A mounting member is provided with pad springs for resiliently supporting friction pads. Each pad spring has guide plates, a connecting plate, an engagement plate, radially urging portions, circumferentially urging portions, reinforcement, etc. The reinforcement includes a rectilinear reinforcement formed on a flat plate portion of the connecting plate by embossing, for example, and oblique reinforcements formed on joint portions of the connecting plate. Thus, the joint portions and so forth of the pad springs can be prevented from being deformed by external force when the brake is activated or during assembling operation, for example, and hence it is possible to prevent positional displacement of the guide plates, etc. that would otherwise be caused by the deformation of the joint portions.
