Patent number: 11788589Abstract: A drum brake apparatus includes: a housing; a main braking part installed on one side of the housing, and driven by hydraulic pressure so as to press a shoe during main braking; and a parking braking part installed on another side of the housing, and driven by an electromotive force of an actuator so as to press the shoe during parking braking. The housing includes: a housing part; a piston housing part formed on the housing part, having a hollow portion formed therein, and having the main braking part installed therein; and a rod housing part formed on the housing part, having a hollow portion formed therein, and having the parking braking part installed therein. The rod housing part is disposed at a location farther from a rotation center of the shoe than the piston housing part.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2021Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Assignee: Hyundai Mobis Co., Ltd.Inventor: Chi Hoon Jo

Patent number: 8794393Abstract: A disc-brake unit (10) for vehicles on rails, comprising a brake pincer consisting of a pair of jaws (14), provided with relative friction gaskets (16), intended to rub on the two opposite surfaces of a disc (12). The jaws (14) are hinged at one of the ends of a pair of levers (18). The levers (18) are pivoted on respective hinges (20) fixedly connected to the main body of the braking unit (10), and are actuated by a braking force motor (22) provided with at least one first piston (26) that moves with alternate motion along an axis (A). The braking unit (10) also comprises a group (68) for automatically regulating the clearances between the friction gaskets (16) and the disc (12).Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2007Date of Patent: August 5, 2014Assignee: POLI Costruzione Materiali Trazione S.R.L.Inventor: Vasil Argirovski

Patent number: 7472776Abstract: An actuator for a drum brake including a plunger connected through a resilient member to a linkage attached to a web on a brake shoe. A rod extends from the plunger and engages a lever arm that is pivotally retained on the web. The lever engages an extendable strut of an adjuster arrangement through which a running clearance is maintained between the brake shoe and a drum. During a brake application, pressurization fluid acts on the plunger to develop an operational force that is communicated through the resilient member to move the brake shoe into engagement with a drum. Should the operational force overcome the resilient member, the plunger moves toward the linkage and a reactive force is applied through the rod that acts through the lever arm to prevent a pawl from rotating such that a current length of the strut and correspondingly a current running clearance is sustained.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2006Date of Patent: January 6, 2009Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Djamel Charmat
