Rotor In Shell Patents (Class 19/44)
  • Publication number: 20140230193
Abstract: Systems and methods for removing material, e.g., linters, from seeds, e.g., ginned cottonseeds, are provided. The systems and methods involve rotating the seeds in a rotatable drum having a plurality of longitudinal brushes. The centrifugal force created by the rotation of the drum and the plurality of longitudinal brushes urge the seeds against an interior surface of the drum that is lined with a brush insert. In this way, work is performed that removes the material from the exterior of the seeds. The material is removed using reduced pressure and the processed seeds are removed. The system may include a brush insert that is easily removed from the rotatable drum. Other systems and methods are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6038741
Abstract: A multi-faceted cleaner for a cotton gin includes a casing having an inlet, an outlet, and an upper and lower portion. Disposed proximate to the upper portion of the casing is a separator that controls the air flow through the casing. The flow of air through the casing allows for the natural separation of the seed cotton as it enters the casing through the inlet. The seed cotton naturally separates into high density and low density seed cotton, where the low density seed cotton typically remains in the air flow and travels to the outlet and the high density seed cotton descends to a rotating spiked cylinder positioned proximate to the lower portion of the casing. Once received by the spiked cylinder, the seed cotton is cleaned by the interaction of the rotating cylinder and a grid. Positioned substantially beneath each cylinder is a saddle configured to house the grid. The configuration of the saddle and the grid permits the removal and insertion of the grid in the saddle.

  • Patent number: 5363754
Abstract: A method and apparatus to convert fluffy cotton seed to an animal feedstuff, comprises delinting the fluffy cotton seed to remove lint and tails therefrom, coating the delinted cotton seed with a binder, adding a filler to the cotton seed coated with the binder, and drying the coated cotton seed to produce a flowable product. The method and apparatus converts a hitherto waste product to a valuable commercial product.

  • Patent number: 4942643
Abstract: A cottonseed delinting machine mechanically delints the cottonseed by a rotating brush system. The period of time for the delinting operation is controlled by a door operating system. The temperature of the cottonseeds is controlled dependent on airflow through the machine and length of time the cottonseeds are subjected to the delinting process. The machine also provides for the recovery of the lint after separation from the cottonseed. The movement and path of travel of the cottonseeds during the delinting process is controlled to ensure a high degree of efficiency in the removal of the lint.

  • Patent number: 4905351
Abstract: An airline cleaner has a cylindrical cage coaxial and the same diameter as a pipe connected to either end of the cage. Helical vanes around the circumference of the cage cause the air and seed cotton moving through the pipe in the cage to move in a helical motion as they move through the cage. The helical motion will wipe the seed cotton against the cage, and trash will fall through spaces in the cage, thus being removed from the seed cotton. A housing surrounds the cage.

  • Patent number: 4520529
Abstract: An apparatus for delinting cottonseed employing an abrasive surface rotor having a wire mesh drum coaxially mounted therearound defining an annular space therebetween and both mounted for rotation relative to each other, means for forcing cottonseeds into said annular space and in contact with said abrasive surface to remove lint therefrom and out of a controlled seed outlet, and an air stream passing through said annular space and out of said apparatus with lint entrained within it and means for trash to drop through spacings of the wire mesh drum onto a conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4064636
Abstract: Cotton seed is delinted in a continuous system wherein dilute acid is sprayed onto a moving agitated horizontal column of seed while controlling the weight ratio of dilute acid to seed and then the wet seed is partially dried by being conveyed by a hot air stream to a cyclone as a flash drying operation and then formed into a horizontal moving column which is agitated by the combined action of (a) a combination conveyor-agitator and (b) the transverse passage of hot drying air to complete drying and then subjected to a scrubbing operation wherein the degraded fibers are removed and the fibers, other very light particles and odors are removed from the seed mass by an exhaust system.
