Abstract: The present disclosure provides an expandable and collapsible luggage item, such as a suitcase. The luggage item can be easily transitioned between two or three different sizes, allowing for use as an overnight or weekend bag, airplane carry-on, or large suitcase. As described herein, the design of the expandable and collapsible luggage item includes various shell panels that are slidably engaged and positioned adjacent each other to allow for the luggage item to collapse and expand.

Abstract: A compression-expansion locking device for an article of luggage and an expandable article of luggage comprising one or more such devices is disclosed. In one embodiment, the device comprises a housing member having an internal passageway with protruding housing teeth and one or more cam elements. A rack member slidably disposed in the internal passageway has rack teeth releasably engageable with the housing teeth. A release member moveably disposed in the internal passageway comprises a release cam and is displaceable from a first position locking movement of the rack member in the expansion direction, to a second position wherein the release cam impinges against the housing cam element effective to urge apart the housing teeth and rack teeth sufficient to allow movement between the housing member and the rack member in the expansion direction.

Abstract: A bicycle carrier apparatus for a vehicle may include a slide carrier configured to slidably move in forward and backward directions on a bumper back beam to be drawn out or accommodated, an extended support installed on the slide carrier to be extended and spread in both side directions and formed to carry a bicycle thereon, and an expandable box seated on the extended support and carried on the slide carrier, to have an accommodation space formed therein, and to be expanded or contracted in a spreading direction of the extended support when the extended support is extended and spread.

Abstract: An apparatus for the containment of objects includes a container having at least one expandable portion that includes an expandable surface and a plurality of elastomers connected to the container and to the expandable portion that normally supplies a force to the expandable surface to retract it toward the container. When the objects exceed the normal volume in the container and the container is closed, the elastomers expand where needed and to a minimum extent as needed sufficient to accommodate the objects. When the objects do not exceed the normal volume and the container is closed, the elastomers automatically retract the expandable portion into a retracted position.

Abstract: An expandable pet cage for animals, and a method for house-training pets of various sizes comprises two complimentary compartments that are in telescopic relation to each other, thereby providing an adjustable composite volume to house a pet. The adjustable composite volume facilitates using the natural instincts of the pet to resist excreting in the volume of the confinement, thus resulting in house-training the pet. The adjustable volume also can be relied on to hold an animal securely and safely during transporting, and provides an efficient enclosure for drying a pet after grooming. Also, the adjustable composite volume provides the pet owner with the convenience of only having to purchase one cage even if dogs of various sizes are to utilize the cage at different times and for different purposes.

Abstract: A piece of luggage is disclosed which consists of a case in the shape of a flat parallelepiped comprising two greater rigid lateral walls and a rigid quadrangular frame with an upper side provided with a curved handle, a base side and end sides. At least one of its lateral walls is movable, being provided with a rigid perimetral edge which slides telescopically within the frame. Displacement of this lateral wall occurs in a direction perpendicular to its plane between a retracted position in which it is located in the plane of the corresponding edge of the frame and a projecting position. The result is that the internal volume of the case is increased.

Abstract: A container is for elongated playing devices and associated game items. It provides protection during storage, handling, and shipping by freight carriers against damage and it offers resistance to theft. Principal parts of the container are made of a plastic material. Its cavity is formed in one or more standardized tubular extrusions to which molded end caps are affixed. Accessories provide for hand and shoulder carrying and lockable hardware secures the cavity. Access to the container cavity is by removal of lockable end caps and in certain embodiments by separation at the unions between two or more tubular sections. The manufacture of the container is adaptable to the requirements of a multiplicity of sports and games.

Abstract: A modular carrying case of all metal construction that includes a top cover section and a bottom cover section that can be closed against each other to provide a totally enclosed case or alternatively closed against one or more center sections to provide a case of greater carrying capacity. Each of the cover sections and the center section are fabricated from a metal extrusion that is formed into a generally endless loop. The peripheral edges of the abutting sections are equipped with interlocking joints that serve to form an extremely tight closure when the case is placed in a closed condition.
