Abstract: A sports bag which is defined to include any carrying bag such as a duffel bag, backpack, gym bag or other bag which is used to carry articles such as sports equipment, a thermos, sports clothing etc, which includes a mat which is conveniently stored inside the sports bag when not in use and can be removed through an opening in the sports bag to permit the mat to be extended transverse to the sports bag so that it provides a flat surface on which the user may rest or place articles. The mat can be permanently affixed to the sports bag or it can be removably affixed and attached by means of fasteners such as male and female mating hook and loop fasteners, snaps, etc. The mat can be rolled up and stored within the sports bag when not in use and unrolled and laid flat adjacent the sports bag when in use.

The pockets are situated about a relatively large central portion that contains a resting space for safely and sanitarily depositing a moist baby, who remains in sight of the care-giver, while the care-giver extracts from the pockets the needed materials and items for diapering the baby and actually changes the baby's diaper.

Abstract: A diaper organizer bag 10 provides an enclosure 30 having opposed side panels, a back panel, and a bottom panel, and defines front and rear cavities between a lengthwise divider. A changing pad 60 is movable between a raised position wherein it forms a front panel of the enclosure to a lowered position, wherein it forms a soft, cleanable surface for changing a baby. A flap 70 is attached to an upper edge of the back panel, and in a travel position covers the top and front of the enclosure. In a use position, the flap may be folded back to provide access to the top and front of the enclosure. At least one separating panel 90 is provided to compartmentalize the rear cavity defined within the enclosure in a variable manner, thereby forming small or large storage areas within the rear cavity, as needed. A drawer assembly 180 is carried within the front cavity of the enclosure, and is accessible when the flap is in the use position.

Abstract: A combination carrying case and diaper changing table includes a pair of pivotally joined shell portions which mate in a clam shell fashion to form a hollow carrying case. Each portion includes a pair of side walls and outer and inner end walls therebetween defining a storage space. The shell portions may be opened to expose a cushion to form a diaper changing table. A first section has an outer barrier surrounding its side and outer end walls forming a substantially U-shaped receptacle therebetween. A canopy is collapsibly received within the storage receptacle which may be expanded to form a light or privacy screen. A side rail is secured to the inwardly facing side of each shell portion side wall which may be pivoted to a vertical position when the shell portions are in an open position providing a protective barrier about the diaper changing table.

Abstract: A combination shopping cart seat cushion and diaper bag includes a substantially rectangular seat panel with foldable front, back and two side panels depending therefrom. A foldable top panel depends from the back panel. The panels may be folded from a flat position to form a box shaped diaper bag. The front panel may be folded downward and the top panel may be folded over a shopping cart seat backrest to form a shopping cart seat cushion. An accessory panel may be removably attached to either the top or the back panels using velcro strips or other suitable attachment means. A seat/diaper changing cushion may be removably attached to the upper surface of the seat panel when the device is being used as a shopping cart seat cushion providing additional comfort to a child sitting therein. An elongated, tublar shopping cart handle cover is also provided having a longitudinal slit for slipping the cover over a shopping cart handle and a longitudinal bore therethrough for receiving said shopping cart handle.

Abstract: A baby supplies case and bag/bassinet combination with an openable front flap. Unzipping the flap reveals a shelved case holding diapers and baby supplies. Attached to the lowest shelf by a hinge is a hollow wedge shaped baby wipes container of sufficient length to extend to a cutout in the above shelf where the wide end of the wedge-shaped container rests. The wide end has raised ridges at either end thereof which retain a protective lid in position. In the middle of the wide end is an oval opening which provides access to baby wipes. When this wedge shaped container is rotated downward and the protective lid is slid open, a baby wipe can be retrieved. Due to the wedge shape of the container, it will not impede the removal of objects from the shelf behind. Resting on the middle shelf of the case is a holder for a container of baby powder. When this holder is rotated downwardly, it hangs from supports attached to the shelf on which it was resting.

Abstract: A backpack is comprised of a plurality of compartments for permitting storage of and easy access to a variety of infant care-associated products, and includes a detachable waterproof changing pad, which may be readily stored within and unfolded from an auxiliary backpack compartment, so as to provide the parent-wearer with an easy to carry and use, infant changing station.

An enclosure (20) is positioned along a second edge of the sheet. A strap (26) is attached to the second edge of the sheet near the enclosure (20). The strap (26) may be confined by the enclosure (20). When extended the strap (26) is used to secure the sheet of material when rolled up.

Abstract: A multipurpose bag includes top and bottom sections fastenable to one another. The top section is convertible to a mattress whereas the bottom section is convertible to a mattress or a chair. The top and bottom sections are provided with pockets for receiving insert material which functions as cushioning and/or provides flotation capabilities therefor.

Abstract: The invention describes a bed in a suitcase requiring minimal preparation for use. It is intended for storage in, for example, a car or truck, and for use when the driver may not be in a condition to drive home. The bed is formed by mating a foldable mattress or pallet with bed clothing, such as an undersheet with a half-width sleeping bag cover. The foldable mattress has a number of cushioning elements which can be folded, especially when used in conjunction with material hinges, to fit within the suitcase. The cushions may also be extended to lie side by side in an extended position for sleeping. Some or all of those elements may have a hard shell mounted to their undersides to protect the mattress from broken glass or sharp objects. The suitcase and hard shell materials are resistant to water absorption and the bed clothing is removable and washable.

Abstract: The novel portable multipurpose beach towel apparatus is comprised of an apparatus that is capable of providing the user with a great amount of flexibility, usefulness and simplicity in a small compact unit and at the same time provide optimum comfort for the individual. The apparatus is comprised of an extra long terry, absorbant cloth towel for use as a beach towel. At one end of the beach towel is an opening that functions as a duffel bag that can hold extra clothes and also encases an inflatable pillow that will provide extra comfort to the user. A flip out storage pouch provides space and easy access to accessories such as, suntan lotion, sunglasses and the like. The entire apparatus can be rolled up and used as a carry bag via the attached shoulder straps that leave the user's hands free.

Abstract: A beach towel/beach bag combination is made of a rectangular sheet of toweling that is folded transversely into three panels which overlie one another. The three panels are folded together along a longitudinal center line of the toweling and a zipper is provided along a portion of the edge of the toweling so as to retain the toweling in the beach bag configuration. A handle is also secured to the toweling so as to facilitate carrying of the beach bag particularly when it is full. The handle may be made of webbing and form an extension of a reinforcing strip that extends from the top to the bottom of the bag. When the bag is unzipped, the towel may be spread flat to serve as a beach towel.

Abstract: A protective appliance for providing protection from the ground and the sun. The protective appliance includes a covering member for covering a portion of the ground, including an opening therein for a shade mechanism provides protection from the sun's rays and has a support end and a protective end. The support end is adapted to removably extend downward through the opening in the covering member and into the ground a sufficient depth to support the shade member in a generally vertical orientation. The shade member provides protection for an object on the covering member from direct exposure to the sun and the covering member provides protection for an object on the covering member from exposure to the ground. In addition, a carrying member is designed to receive each of the elements in a convenient, transportable form.

Abstract: A portable chair includes a first container for retaining items, the first container having an inclined top wall for use as a back rest. The chair may additionally include a second container for retaining items, the second container having an inclined top wall and being hingedly connected to the first container such that the first container can pivot onto the inclined top wall of the second container, such that the inclined top wall of the second container can be pivoted into alignment with the inclined top wall of the first container, for use together as a back rest, and a third container for retaining items, the third container having a substantially horizontal top wall and being connected to the second container such that the second container can pivot together with the first container onto the substantially horizontal top wall of the third container. An access opening is preferably provided in at least one container. A canopy assembly is optionally provided over the containers.

Abstract: A collapsible carry cot is erectable to stand within an open case 16. The cot comprises a telescopic strut 14 secured to each corner of the case. The struts support flexible sidewalls 24 on spurs 12. In the collapsed state the cot is received wholly within the case and is designed to occupy those areas of the case, such as the corners, which are not usually as densely packed in a conventional case. The remainder of the case is left free for items to be stowed in the case.

Within the mat is at least one storage compartment with a mat front surface entrance for use when the mat is opened and a mat back surface entrance for accessing the storage compartment when the mat is wrapped for transportation and storage.

Abstract: The present invention entails a convertible cover-tote apparatus that is positionable between a ground covering position and a tote or carrying position. The cover-tote apparatus includes a cover or blanket that is formed from a sheet of nylon, polycotton, cotton or other synthetic fabric. The cover has a plurality of eyelets fixed to the cover at a position approximately midway between the cover's center and outer border. A drawstring is interweaved through the eyelets and encircles the center of the cover at a location approximately midway between the cover's center and outer border. The drawstring defines the border between a center and outer section of the cover. In the ground covering position, the cover is extended over a surface that a user can sit or lie thereon. The cover-tote apparatus is positionable from the covering position to the tote position by drawing the eyelets together with the drawstring.

During transport, the portfolio's at least two flat, planar leaves are closed together so that the at least two leaves face and engage one another. On site, the portfolio is opened up and laid down on the worksurface so as to present both the tool-carrying surface and the padded mat to the workman.

Abstract: A combination beach mat/tote bag made of a sheet of terry cloth or other fabric having a pair of opposed side edges and a pair of opposed end edges, the sheet preferably being of rectangular shape. A flexible strap is attached to the sheet at the corners, and each strap has an anchor pod secured on a distal end thereof. The sheet has a handle at each of the end edges and zippers along each of the side edges. The sheet is adapted to be folded in half along a line between the side edges such that the side and end edges are superimposed and the side edges zipped up to form an open top tote bag which may be carried by the handles. The sheet is further adapted to be unzipped, unfolded and spread on a beach surface and the anchors buried below the beach surface to secure the sheet. The anchor pad is releasably secured to the strap by a snap fastener, and the snap fasteners on adjacent straps at the end edges may be further fastened to each other to form the handles.

Abstract: A portable infant's play mat has a cushioned base portion and a cushioned wall portion which follows the perimeter of the base portion. Securing means are provided to removably secure the wall portion to the base portion. The base portion is foldable along a fold line. The mat has flaps attached to the underside of the base portion, the open sides of which are securable together with a zipper. With the mat in a folded position, the flaps may be turned inside out such that each encases a portion of the mat. The flaps when inside out and secured together thus form an integral carrying case. With the flaps inside out, a shoulder strap is exposed for easy carrying of the enclosed mat.

Abstract: A beach accessory includes a carrying case having a plurality of storage compartments, a flexible mat stored within one of the storage compartments and extendable through a side of the carrying case, and a cushion pivotally attached to the carrying case. The cushion is connected to the carrying case by a pair of hinges to be rotatable between a first position wherein the cushion lies atop an upper surface of the carrying case, and a second position wherein the cushion rests, at least partially, on or adjacent to a ground surface. In the first position the cushion provides a cover for the storage compartments and a seat for a user of the beach accessory. The carrying case is configured to provide a portable table when inverted, and includes an alarm clock, a radio receiver and a cassette tape player.

The tote bag may have handles and/or a hood attachable and/or have an insertable pad associated with it.

A first handle is provided on a side wall surface of the inner box which cooperates with a cutout or opening in the corresponding side wall of the outer box.

Securing means are provided to removable secure the wall portion to the base portion. Both the wall portion and the base portion are foldable along a bisecting axis. The securing means may be either a zipper or straps of hook and pile cloth which wrap around the wall portion. Pockets on the base of the mat are upright when the mat is folded in a carrying position and may be used to store objects during transportation of the mat.

The slide fastener is operable to transform the flat, T-shaped unit into a parallelipiped-shaped container.

Abstract: A beach towel comprises a towel with a hollow, open-ended receptacle integrally attached to one end of the towel. A pillow is removably disposed within the receptacle. A carrying bag has first and second ends, one of which is closed, and one of which is attached to the pillow. The bag defines a hollow enclosure extending from the first end to the second end, with the hollow enclosure removably enclosing the towel, receptacle and pillow when the towel is rolled around the pillow and not in use. A drawstring, attached to either the first or second end, is provided for closing the bag.

Abstract: Portable, lightweight apparatus for beach use is provided in which a generally tubular housing holds a wound up beach blanket on a convolute, spring-actuated roller wind-up mechanism. The housing has means for anchoring it into sand, pockets affixed thereto for carrying various items needed at the beach and handle means for ease of carrying. A user can carry the apparatus to the beach, anchor it into the sand, pull the towel out of the housing for use during sunbathing, use the various and sundry items carried in the pockets and, when finished, the user can roll the blanket back into the housing, detach the anchor and carry the apparatus away for use another day.

Abstract: In general, devices for carrying the accessories required for feeding and changing babies are somewhat cumbersome and/or expensive to produce. A simple baby changing device and carrier for diapers, etc. includes an elongated, rectangular panel with a central, transversely extending change area covered by a releasable impermeable pad and bordered by a pair of pocket-containing ends, which are folded into overlapping relationship with each other and with the change area to form a small, rectangular package. The package is folded double to form a compact, purse-like article. Handles at each end of the change are, i.e. on the top end of the folded article facilitate carrying of the device.

Abstract: A cloth covered framework is structured in three panel sections hingedly attached to provide a shaded head rest for human use. The three panels include a horizontally positioned base panel on which the head is rested, a vertical header panel which supports a shade panel hingedly arranged for positioned in parallel alignment with the base panel as a sun shade. There are capped pockets on the outer surfaces of the panels and the framework can be folded up into a carrying package. The shade panel has side flaps for additional shading and as a retainer for the folded framework. Handles for carrying and fasteners for the side flaps as a retainer are provided.

Abstract: A lounge chair with a beach mat resting upon the lounge chair in which the beach mat has a flap at one end which extends for a distance of 1/5 to 1/6 of the length of the beach mat and which accommodates the end of the back of the lounge chair to secure the beach mat on the lounge chair. The mat may be removed from the lounge chair and folded on the side of the flap four or five times to provide a flat roll, and folded one additional time to place the mat in the flap. The flap may thereafter be folded along the longitudinal axis of the mat and fasteners are provided to secure the mat in folded position, thus exposing the open end of the flap to receive articles.

Abstract: A convertible beach blanket may be easily converted into a tote bag having a number of internal compartments by folding in a first then a second direction and pulling on a cord confined to a portion of the blanket by a series of eyelets formed in a circular configuration.

Abstract: A nappy or diaper changing bag is made from a soft quilted plastic material and comprises two closable storage compartments connected at their undersides by a mat on which the baby being changed is placed. Foldable end flaps support the baby's head and legs, respectively. Nappies or diapers and ointments can be stored in the compartments and feeding bottles in wells provided in the end of one of the compartments. During transportation of the bag, the flaps are folded over the mat and one compartment is placed over the other compartment and held in place by fastenings. Handles attached to the lower part of the bag enable it to be carried.

The unfolded head and/or foot portion (16,18) is prevented from being swung back up to close to the lying surface (20) by an abutment surface (26,28) formed at the upper suitcase shell (14).

Abstract: A combination mat and carry bag unit includes a sheet of pliable material defining a mat of size to accommodate a person thereon for use as an exercise mat, beach mat or the like. The sheet has a drawstring casing extending about its periphery. The casing has two openings therein on opposite sides of the mat and a drawstring is received in the drawstring casing and is of size to extend continuously about the periphery of the sheet when it defines a mat. The drawstring is slidably received in the drawstring casing so that when portions of the drawstring are pulled out of the drawstring casing through the two openings, the periphery of the sheet forms gathers adjacent the casing to permit the periphery to reduce in size whereby the unit forms a carrying bag. Those portions of the drawstring which are pulled out of the casing are secured together adjacent the openings to form a handle for the carrying bag.

Abstract: An inflatable seat cushion system has an envelope that will fit in a conventional coat pocket or pocketbook of a user when deflated for storage, includes an envelope having an open side with the open side affixed to the back of the inflatable portion. Abstract: A coverlet suitable for placing on the beach or ground or use as a bed cover, includes two plies, one of cotton terry cloth and the bottom ply of cotton twill cloth. The corner reinforcements with holes allow each coverlet to be interconnected with clips to form larger shapes with a hidden pocket opening to an edge of the coverlet closed by VELCRO strips, supplied in a waterproof bag constructed of waterproof fabric with a draw string closure, shoulder carrying strap and patch pocket closed with VELCRO.

Abstract: A convertible lounge chair-tote bag is disclosed which provides for a container carrying tote bag which can be converted into a lounge chair. This is accomplished by having the sides of the bag in releasable relation to the sides of the back and leg support, respectively.

Abstract: A combination carry bag and mat is provided which in an unfolded position can be utilized as a mat to lie upon that has built-in relatively rigid compartments to hold various items and a radio and which in a folded position can be utilized as a carry bag. In a modified form a built-in adjustable and collapsible sun shade protector is for a person when the person lies upon the mat.
