  • Patent number: 9004247
Abstract: A mobile power pack includes a cover over a guide track which includes first, second, third, and fourth turning points. A sliding block defines a sliding groove to receive a ball, and the slotted ball interacts with the guide track. An elastic element is connected to the sliding block. When a cable is pulled out, the sliding block slides from the first turning point to the second turning point. When the pull on the cable is released, the elastic element restores to cause the sliding block to move until the ball reaches the third turning point, to lock the cable in position. When the cable is pulled and released, the sliding block slides until the ball reaches the fourth turning point, allowing the cable to be retracted into the body of the power pack.

  • Patent number: 8863921
Abstract: A 360-degree freedom electric cord device system contains and manages automatic extension and retraction of an electric cord/cable supplying power to a push/pull-type electric machine, either self-propelled or not, for intended displacement or steering on a surface by a user. The 360-degree freedom electric cord device system, partly mounted on the electric machine, allows the power cord to clear obstacles on the surface and includes a self-retracting spool to automatically extend and rewind the power cord and continuously keeps physical tension therein, in a straight line and a natural position, during the displacement in any direction of the electric machine. With a ratchet mechanism, the device can also suitably be used independently of the machine as an electric retractable extension cord reel.

Power is fed to the mining vehicle from an alternating current network with a specific voltage level. The mining vehicle further includes a transformer arranged to transform the voltage level of the alternating current network into the nominal voltage. • Patent number: 8776968
Abstract: In one embodiment, a cable reel axle shaft is configured with a mounting member and an encased rotary coupling. In particular, a first end of the axle shaft at the mounting member comprises a stationary radio frequency (RF) connection (e.g., a stator), and another end of the axle shaft comprises a rotating RF connection (e.g., a rotor). The rotor-stator break may then be located within the axle shaft, illustratively within the member. In this manner, a rotary coupling is extended and integrated into the center of the structural axle shaft for the cable reel, such that an RF connection may be maintained throughout adjustment of an accompanying variable-length RF antenna while efficiently handling the changes in required RF cable length. This provides numerous benefits over individual components, such as decreased size and weight, increased RF performance, greater survivability, and ease of operation (e.g., to spool and unspool an RF cable).

  • Patent number: 7931133
Abstract: This invention relates to a system for automatically self-adjusting the height, length and direction of an electrical power cable connecting a movable machine, such as a crane, to a fixed electrical power supply. One end of the cable is wrapped around a reel which is arranged within a housing that is freely rotatable about a vertical axis. That end is connected to an electrical power source. The opposite end of the cable is connected to a machine which is moveable towards and away from, and around, the reel. A motor rotates the reel for winding up, and applying a tension upon, the cable so that the center portion of the cable, which extends between the reel and machine, is held relatively taut and generally horizontal. The central portion of the cable extends through a vertical slot in the housing so that its height, length and direction of extension towards the machine are automatically adjusted in response to the position of the moveable machine relative to the reel.

A subassembly having an input device, a cable, and a retraction mechanism is provided. The cable has first and second opposing ends, with the first end being operable to be coupled to a computing device, and the second end being operable to be coupled to the input device. The cable provides an electrical communication between the computing device and the input device. The cable has an extended configuration and a storage configuration. In the extended configuration, the cable extends outwardly from the computing device. In the storage configuration, the majority of the cable is in a substantially linear orientation. The retraction mechanism has at least one pulley member for displacing the pulley member between first and second positions to allow the cable to move from the storage configuration to the extended configuration.

Abstract: An electric vehicle powered by a trailing cable, the vehicle including a cable guide for guiding cable onto a reel as the cable is paid out and taken up. The cable guide comprises a pair of adjacent, double flanged concave rollers in alignment with each other so that their respective flanges are spaced apart by only a small distance substantially less than the cable diameter so that an essentially closed circular path is defined by the concave surfaces of the adjacent rollers so that the cable can not escape the rollers, each of the rollers including a polyurethane core that is hard and slick that creates a natural bearing surface, and an outer portion made of softer polyurethane than the core that aids in gripping and guiding the cable onto the cable reel.
