Patent number: 6874654Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing a fully threaded bobbin to an operator upon the depositing of an empty bobbin into the apparatus. The apparatus comprises a housing defining a storage compartment for storing the bobbins. The housing has a first opening for depositing the empty bobbins therein and a second opening for dispensing the full bobbins therefrom. A tray is mounted to the housing within the storage compartment for orienting and feeding fully threaded bobbins and a top and bottom slide are provided for transporting the full bobbins from the tray to the second opening. An actuator lever is slidably coupled to a lever channel for activating the apparatus. A release hinge is mounted to the top slide and operatively coupled to the acutator lever for releasing a single full bobbin from the top slide and to the second opening in response to the actuator lever being activated from a fully extended position to an actuated position and an empty bobbin being deposited into the first opening and lever channel.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2001Date of Patent: April 5, 2005Assignee: Intier Automotive Inc.Inventors: Thomas G. Patent number: 4987989Abstract: A mechanical coin-freed dispensing mechanism which is operated by the energy of the falling coins. Entering coins are sorted into at least two coin sizes that are respectively stacked edge-on-edge in two accumulator columns. The sorting is performed by pairs of rails, one pair for each coin size, along which the coins travel and which allow undersize coins to fall through while oversize coins will not fit between them. When either of two packet-vending drawers is pulled, pairs of fingers are operated that sense whether the correct totals of coins have accumulated in the columns by feeling for the top coin in each column. If either coin total is not correct, a sear or sears operatively connected with the fingers prevent the drawer from being pulled out. When a drawer is pulled out an interlock bar is cammed laterally to lock the other drawer and also swing aside deflector flaps supporting the columns of coins to allow them to fall into cash boxes.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1990Date of Patent: January 29, 1991Inventors: Nicholas H. Buckenham, Robert W. Tansley, Hans H. Petersen

Patent number: 4732255Abstract: A dispensing apparatus 10 for elongate flat articles such as newspapers is described. The mechanism uses a rachet or pawl mechanism 36 or 36a to control a roller 23 or 23a rotatably mounted on a shaft 24 or 51 for dispensing the articles with the shaft and roller locked together. The roller has a cylindrical cross-section in continuous contact with the uppermost article to be dispensed by turning a crank handle 53 or by pulling a pull bar 28. The rachet or pawl mechanism and support plate 18 for the articles P are constructed to be rugged and reliable in dispensing the articles. Self lubricating bearings 18a are mounted on the plate for movement on multiple posts 12. The rachet mechanism engages indentations 38 on the end 37 of the roll.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1987Date of Patent: March 22, 1988Inventor: Wade A. Bullard

Patent number: 4720004Abstract: A coin-operated latch mechanism for a newspaper rack includes a coin-receiving mechanism into which coins are deposited. A coin-return mechanism is provided which, when depressed, swings the coin-receiving mechanism to a position in which the outlets of the coin slots overly a coin-return diverter. The coin-return diverter is normally disposed in a coin return mode and is moved to a coin retention position in response to the opening of a door of the rack. A key-actuated wall of the rack is mounted on hinges which permit a simplified removal of the wall from the rack. The key-actuated wall includes a latch which enables the wall to be closed and relatched without the use of a key.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1986Date of Patent: January 19, 1988Inventor: Ronald C. Patent number: 4693357Abstract: The specification discloses a coin mechanism for dispensing machines including two or more rectangular chutes for receiving and containing a given number of coins. A rectangular gate selectively directs coins into the chutes and a rocker arm is operable to move the gate from a first position directing coins into the first chute to a second position directing coins into the second chute when the coins reach a predetermined height in a first chute. A pawl is adjustably mounted adjacent to the second chute to prevent upward movement of a predetermined number of coins deposited in the second chute. A catch plate pivotally attached to the door of the dispensing machine below the chutes supports the coins therein. The catch plate receives a hook which prevents opening of the door until the coins in the second chute are high enough to engage the pawl. A number of intermediate chutes may be located between the first and second chutes.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1986Date of Patent: September 15, 1987Assignee: Kaspar Wire Works, Inc.Inventors: Weldon J. Aschenbeck, Frank W. Medley, III

Patent number: 4576271Abstract: A coin operated pull down door mechanism for a vending machine is disclosed having a latch mounted to the door above a coin receiving and sorting mechanism, a coin seat disposed underneath the coin mechanism, a rod mounted for normally yielding to a camming surface on the door latch when an attempt is made to open the door, and a lever cooperating with coinage wedged by the coin mechanism against the coin seat so as to urge the rod into engagement with the camming surface to thereby bias the latch out of locking engagement with the keeper, allowing opening of the door. Also disclosed is a door return spring mechanism for a vending machine.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1983Date of Patent: March 18, 1986Assignee: K-Jack Engineering Company, Inc.Inventor: Jack S.
