Abstract: A coin slide which accepts a plurality of smaller denomination coins or single larger denomination coin preferably equal in value to total value of the plurality of smaller denomination coins, in lieu of the plurality of small denomination coins. The coin slide includes a body, a slide, a bridge and a lever checking mechanism.

Abstract: The consignment device comprises a box (1) with two slots (2, 3) capable of receiving corresponding keys. The box is shaped to receive a key fitted with a receiver for a consignment coin so that the insertion of a second key unlocks a first coin-bearing key locked into a first slot, leaving the second key locked into position in a second slot. This device comprises at least one key catch (14, 15) translatable substantially perpendicular to direction of insertion of the key (27a, 27b), and at least one elements (5, 11) for locking the catch (14, 15) translatable substantially parallel to the direction of insertion of the key (27a, 27b).

Abstract: A coin slide (11) bearing a coin is movable into a casing (2) of a coin lock (1) to release a locking member (14) and allow full insertion of the coin slide (11). In this position a space (recess 20) in the coin slide (11) is aligned with a space (aperture 21) in a coupling member (8) and with a space (aperture (19) in a casing position separating the coin slide (11) and the coupling member (8). A locking member (e.g. ball 18) in the apertures (19 and 21) may now be moved upwardly, on pulling of the coupling member (8), to occupy the recess (20) and the aperture (19) so as to allow complete withdrawal of the coupling member (8), e.g. to free a shopping trolley. The coin is released by reversing the procedure on re-insertion of the coupling member (8).

Abstract: A safe having a safe door which can be locked by means of a permutation lock. To permit the safe to be used by a series of different persons, the permutation lock (5) is equipped with an externally operatable device for resetting the combination, and also is used in conjunction with a coin-operated release mechanism (19).

Abstract: A dispensing apparatus 10 for elongate flat articles such as newspapers is described. The mechanism uses a rachet or pawl mechanism 36 or 36a to control a roller 23 or 23a rotatably mounted on a shaft 24 or 51 for dispensing the articles with the shaft and roller locked together. The roller has a cylindrical cross-section in continuous contact with the uppermost article to be dispensed by turning a crank handle 53 or by pulling a pull bar 28. The rachet or pawl mechanism and support plate 18 for the articles P are constructed to be rugged and reliable in dispensing the articles. Self lubricating bearings 18a are mounted on the plate for movement on multiple posts 12. The rachet mechanism engages indentations 38 on the end 37 of the roll.
