Patent number: 7708129Abstract: A multiple coin actuation mechanism has a latch biased to an inward home position with its inner end extending through an upstream side of a first coin slot of a stationary front cover plate toward a rotatable carrier wheel and generally alongside an unobstructed path for insertion of a first coin through the first coin slot into a first coin recess of the carrier wheel. The latch is pivotally yieldably movable away from the carrier wheel due to engagement with a second coin in a second coin recess in the rotatable carrier wheel, as the second coin is brought into alignment with the first coin slot, to allow the second coin to pass under the latch while the latch remains in contact with the second coin, preventing its removal from the second coin recess outwardly through the first coin slot, as the carrier wheel rotates past the first coin slot.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2008Date of Patent: May 4, 2010Inventor: Kil Jae Chang

Patent number: 6053300Abstract: A coin validator is provided with at least two reference positions (U, D) for determining a diameter related characteristic of a coin being validated. In order to reduce the running to the testing station, the timing of a trailing point of the coin passing a first reference position (U) is used to determine the diameter related characteristic. Embodiments using optical inductive and piezo-electric sensors associated with the reference positions are disclosed. An inductive sensor for a coin validator comprises an elongate coil, which, when in use, is arranged such that the magnetic field is substantially constant across the width of the passageway. Patent number: 4844230Abstract: An installation for sorting out reject slugs out of the slug channel of an automatic coining machine with a slug control mechanism, whereby the reduction of the reaction time for the rejection of slugs to be sorted out permits a considerable increase of the number of coining strokes of the automatic coining machine, without the need for a further additional intermediate storage of slugs. The reject channel for rejected slugs is thereby kept closed by shaped members in the manner of shutters and is opened up in case of need whereby also the desired dimensions for the slugs are determined by the shaped members. Such a slug control mechanism is needed in the slug channel of an automatic coining machine in order to separate good slugs from reject slugs.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1988Date of Patent: July 4, 1989Assignee: L. Patent number: 4741427Abstract: A coin acceptor which receives coins in a slanted coin chute with a final size gauge system. The coin is first rebounded against a tapered wall and enters a first zone. All three coin sizes enter the first zone and then the lightest weight one passes down a tapered ramp which is spring loaded, but the lightest weight coins will not depress the ramp and therefore such coins are diverted into a second zone. The heavier different sized coins pass down and trip the tapered ramps, both a first and second one, and then the widest of the coins continues downwardly in the first zone to be processed and sized for diameter. The largest diameter coin is trapped between two pins where it is then tilted off of a ramp onto a diverter and passes into a third zone for processing. As all of the coins reach the bottom of their three separate zones, they enter into a final size gauge system which has three coin chutes sized precisely to reject any coin which is bent, burred, or oversized.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1985Date of Patent: May 3, 1988Inventors: Nathan Choderker, Carl E.
