  • Patent number: 11383972
Abstract: A method for producing a microstructure in a substrate with a membrane-like bridging or overhanging surface includes modifying the substrate, which is made of glass, by laser radiation along a peripheral contour. A membrane layer is applied over a surface of the substrate for producing the bridging or overhanging surface, wherein, at least in partial surfaces enclosing the peripheral contour of the laser modifications, a sacrificial layer is disposed between the substrate and the membrane layer. A side of the substrate facing away from the membrane layer is exposed to an etching attack such that material is removed primarily along the peripheral contour until the sacrificial layer is reached and there is a disintegration or reduction of the sacrificial layer and a separation of a connection of a part of the substrate enclosed by the peripheral contour from the surrounding substrate and from the membrane layer.

Abstract: Conventionally, in industries, different complex profiles (e.g., objects) are extruded and cut to required lengths for handling these profiles. This requires moving profiles from one location to another and placing them together with other similar or identical profiles which is currently a manual process. Present disclosure provides an apparatus for re-orientation of profiles for easy pick and place of these profiles from one location to another location. The apparatus includes actuator arm assemblies that are actuated for movement in upward and downward direction, wherein actuated rollers are trigged to move upward/downward directions accordingly. Profile is placed in initial position on an endless re-orienting belt above the surface of actuator arm assemblies wherein each actuator arm assembly is actuated to move the profile from one sub-region to another sub-region until the profile attains a desired orientation for pick and place of the re-oriented profile to desired location with required angle.

Abstract: A transfer assembly includes a transfer starwheel having recesses to receive an article. Each recess includes a vacuum port and at least one insert formed from a compliant material. The at least one insert at least partially defines a shape of the recess, which corresponds to an aspect of the article. The transfer assembly includes a mounting hub including a plurality of circumferential sets of vacuum openings extending axially along the mounting hub and coupled to a vacuum source. A vacuum is delivered to the vacuum openings. The transfer starwheel is mounted on a mounting hub to align the vacuum ports of the transfer starwheel with a selected set of vacuum openings on the mounting hub. The mounting hub rotates so that the transfer starwheel receives the article into one of the recesses at a first position and rotates to a second position while holding the article with the vacuum.

  • Patent number: 8727098
Abstract: A system for aligning items, such as bottles, includes a rotating plate and a diverter arm that extends outward over a top surface of the plate towards the plate edge. A rotating channel may surround the plate. In operation, bottles are dropped onto the plate and rotated by the plate against the arm. The distance between the top surface of the arm and the plate surface is such that the arm generally diverts the bottles outward and guides them into free gaps within the channel. The distance is also configured such that as bottles back-up, waiting for free channel gaps, the arm allows any buckling bottles to pass over and back onto the plate, rather than into the channel. The distance may also be configured such that the arm acts like a scoop. As bottles back-up behind the arm, the arm presses under the bottles along the arm and passes them over, relieving the pressure.
