By An Oscillating Or Reciprocating Conveyor Patents (Class 198/409)
  • Patent number: 6062799
Abstract: An apparatus for automatic loading or unloading printed circuit boards (PCBs) for semiconductor modules is disclosed. The apparatus employs an elastic jig carrier into which the PCBs are loaded. The jig carrier includes movable clamps for fixing the PCBs by elastic force. A jig opener of the apparatus applies opening force, in the reverse direction of the elastic force, to the movable clamps so that the PCBs can be loaded into or unloaded from the jig carrier by a picker. The jig carrier is transferred along a conveyor belt, while the PCBs are supplied from a PCB stage such as a tray to the jig carrier. The apparatus may further comprise a gripper and a rotator. The gripper grips the upright PCBs and the rotator rotates them to be horizontal, so that the picker can pick up the horizontal PCBs. The apparatus may also comprise an aligner for exact alignment of the PCBs in the jig carrier. A method for loading or unloading the PCBs into or from the jig carrier is also disclosed in connection with the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5984080
Abstract: An armature manufacturing line includes one or more manufacturing cells, each having a winder facing a fuser and a rotatable armature transfer apparatus that transfers unwound armatures to the winder and wound armatures from the winder directly to the fuser. The armature transfer apparatus has a rotatable turret upon which are mounted a pair of grippers that face in mutually opposite directions and which are movable along mutually parallel axes. Independent drive means drives the grippers along their respective paths of movement relative to the turret. The turret is rotatably driven through 180.degree. in alternately opposite directions to place one gripper in confronting relation with the winder, then in confronting relation with the fuser, and so on. An elevator at the fuser moves wound and fused armatures from the fuser to a conveyor. Different embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5967291
Abstract: In certain production lines such as for some edible ice products it is actual to transfer the products from a hanging position in a feeding row to a lying position on an underlying conveyor, e.g. for conveying to a packaging station, and it is known to effect such a transfer by means of a product gripping pivot arm which grips the product and swings it down through 90.degree. to a position in which the product is released for falling down on the conveyor. There are associated problems with respect to the delivery accuracy, already because of the necessity of accelerating the products to the conveyor speed. With the invention the pivot arm is arranged and controlled in such a manner that the products, when released to the conveyor, are located very closely above the conveyor and are in motion with a velocity component in the conveying direction roughly corresponding the velocity of the conveyor, whereby the delivery accuracy is largely improved.

Abstract: An apparatus for presenting a flexible article, longer than it is wider, in a predetermined orientation which has an orientation for tumbling the article generally about one direction while retaining the article so that it can rotate about another direction while it is being tumbled. The retention mechanism on the apparatus includes a retention face and is moveable between a first position in which the retention face is disposed to receive the article generally downwardly from the orientation head while it is being tumbled thereby, and a second position displaced from the first. Additionally, when the article is received on the retention face, it can be detected if it is correctly orientated on the retention face. Abstract: A stack turner and replenisher 10 is provided for keeping a hopper of a carton prefeeder P filled with carton blanks, traditionally a job that requires a human worker and causes carpal tunnel syndrome due to the inverting motion required. Stack turner 10 allows for the movement of a stack of blanks in a lateral direction as well as in an inverted u-shaped path. Clamp 53, with adjustable upper and lower plates 54,55, is used to pick up a stack of blanks from a source of such blanks. Clamp 53 then moves upwardly, laterally, and downwardly along groove 52, while an upper portion 50 of stack turner 10 simultaneously moves laterally toward prefeeder P. Clamp 53 then deposits the blanks in the hopper of prefeeder P. Finally, stack turner 10 retraces its path in order to pick up another stack of blanks and repeat the procedure, thus ensuring that the hopper of prefeeder P is always filled with carton blanks. Stack turner 10 also squares the stack of blanks both vertically and horizontally.

  • Patent number: 5249663
Abstract: Apparatus to load workpieces on a carrier for a decorator. A swing arm supports grippers at one end for movement between a workpiece transfer site and a workpiece loading position. An actuating lever moveable with the swing arm moves a gripper into a workpiece gripping position with the stationary gripper at the transfer site and moves the displaceable gripper into a workpiece release position with stationary gripper at the workpiece loading position. A driven cam track coupled by a follower to an oscillating shaft reciprocates the swing arm between a workpiece receiving position and a workpiece discharge position. A belt extends between a bearing block used to support the oscillating shaft and a support shaft for the gripper so that as the swing arm reciprocates the gripper is rotated to transposes the position of the workpiece supported thereby.

  • Patent number: 5220990
Abstract: An electronic part carrying apparatus is disclosed. If a carrier means moves to a part supplying device (which supplies electronic parts in a laid-down state) in accordance with the actuation of a rodless cylinder, a first roller is lifted along an upper inclined face of a first guide member in order to load electronic parts into a loading means. If the carrier means is moved in the opposite direction in accordance with the actuations of the rodless cylinder, a second roller is guided along a lower inclined face of a second guide member in order to pivot the loading means by 90 degrees. Consequently, the electronic parts are erected to an upright posture, with the result that the chucking is rendered easier, and that the working time is shortened.

  • Patent number: 5160013
Abstract: An automatic bottle-turning machine is described in which filled water bottles are conveyed through an automatic turning apparatus that rotates them from an upright position onto their sides, and discharges them. Bottles enter a turning station which is laterally rotatable about a longitudinal axis, and is blocked at its distal end by an exit stop. Bottles are counted as they enter. When a predetermined count number is reached, bottle entry is stopped and the station rotates 90 degrees from its initial position to a second position. The exit stop is then deactuated and the turned bottles discharge. Bottles are counted as they exit. When the predetermined count number is reached, the station rerotates from the second position to the initial position, and the exit stop is reactuated.
