With Scraper Biasing Means Patents (Class 198/499)
  • Patent number: 4249650
Abstract: A track mounted conveyor belt cleaner wherein individual belt scraper blades are affixed to sleeve members which slide linearly along a support member positioned generally transverse to the direction of travel of the belt to be cleaned. The sleeves are slidably mounted on the support member such that they may freely slide from one end to the other but are fixed against either rotational or vertical movement and provide for repair or replacement of wiper blades without requiring conveyor belt shutdown.

  • Patent number: 4182444
Abstract: A scraper blade is provided for a conveyor belt for removing material such as hot asphalt mix which would otherwise tend to stick to the conveyor belt surface. A scraper blade assembly is mounted to a swinging arm which is pivoted to the conveyor frame and positioned near the underside of the discharge end of the conveyor. A blade is mounted transversely to the conveyor belt for scraping material from its surface, and heating elements are provided for heating the blade to prevent material build-up on the scraper. A control system including sensors, a control valve and a control cylinder is provided for pivoting the blade away from the conveyor to allow passage of the conveyor splice without damaging it, or in response to a conveyor belt stoppage.

  • Patent number: 4131194
Abstract: A scraper assembly is pivotally supported for biased engagement with the outer surface of a moving conveyor belt to clean the surface of the belt. The scraper assembly includes a plurality of scraper elements spaced along the length of an elongate carrier which extends transversely of the side edges of the belt. Each scraper element is removably mounted on the carrier and at an inclined angle with respect to the direction of movement of the conveyor belt to displace material clinging to the surface of the belt outwardly towards the edges of the conveyor belt. The scraper element consists of a resilient body with a fixedly vulcanized assembly profile with an outwardly open undercut groove for a bolt. The undercut groove extends at an inclined angle towards the scraping edges of the scraper element. The elongate carriers of the carrier device have a curved carrying surface facing the scraper elements.

  • Patent number: 4105109
Abstract: A scraper apparatus for cleaning the operating surface of an endless conveyor belt is disclosed as mounted in scraping engagement with the belt's operating surface for limited pivotal swinging movement from a belt engaging position to a safety and maintenance position. The apparatus has a biasing portion formed as a pressurized bladder carried by a support member mounted transversely of the belt which individually biases each member of an aligned series of scraper blades into continuous scraping engagement with the belt so as to locally compensate for worn belt areas and worn scraper blades or for obstructions on the belt occurring at one scraper blade without preventing or disturbing continued scraping action of the next adjacent scraper blades. Such localized biasing maintains a constant scraping pressure at each scraper blade and allows the series of scraper blades to float with the belt as it rises and sags with tension variations.

  • Patent number: 4098394
Abstract: A mounting and support arrangement for conveyor belt cleaners which provides for selective incremental rotation of a cross-shaft on which is carried a plurality of belt cleaner blades suspended from mounting arms. A radial ratchet and pawl arrangement is provided exterior to the housing of the conveyor belt to be cleaned which provides for rotation of the shaft to bias the cleaner blades against the belt until the desired blade pressure is attained. A locking pawl secures the shaft against counter-rotation.

  • Patent number: 4053045
Abstract: A resiliently mounted conveyor belt cleaner is provided to serve as a mechanical cleaner for an endless conveyor belt. The cleaner includes a plurality of independently operable scraper blade assemblies for removing objectionable foreign materials from the surface of the conveyor belt. Each of the blade assemblies is resiliently mounted on a support which is fixedly positionable transversely of and adjacent to the surface of the belt. Each blade assembly includes an elongated arm having a blade mounted at one end and a resilient support-engaging assembly at its opposite end, each support-engaging assembly being individual to its arm. In a first embodiment, a block of resilient material is used to bias each arm and absorb shock.

  • Patent number: 4036354
Abstract: A scraper blade assembly for a conveyor belt cleaner mounted on a conveyor belt system having an endless belt trained about a drum and a rigid support for mounting the belt cleaner. The scraper blade assembly includes a bracket assembly having a pair of parallelly opposed upright plates. A generally L-shaped wiper arm having an arcuate mid-portion is pivotally suspended between the legs. A wiper blade is mounted at one end of the arm and a tension spring is connected between the other end of the arm and the bracket to pivotally urge the arm into scraping contact with the belt. The assembly may also include a stop member at said other end of the arm for limiting the pivotal movement of the arm in one direction to protect the assembly as the blade wears.

  • Patent number: 4036351
Abstract: The conveyor belt cleaner serves as a mechanical cleaner for an endless conveyor belt entrained about a pair of pulleys and includes a vertically movable support adapted to be mounted on the frame of the conveyor transversely of the belt, with the support carrying a plurality of independently operable wiper blade assemblies for removing from the conveyor belt abrasive and other objectionable materials. A pair of manually operable jack screws are interposed between the conveyor frame and the support and which are effective upon rotation thereof to vertically move the support and wiper blade assemblies relative to the conveyor belt thus pressurizing the wiper blades of the assemblies against the belt. Each wiper blade assembly is independently mounted on the support by a mounting means including a spring interposed between the support and the corresponding wiper blade assembly for biasing the blade towards the belt.

  • Patent number: 3999649
Abstract: A scraper assembly is pivotally supported for biased engagement with the outer surface of a moving conveyor belt to clean the belt surface. The scraper assembly includes a plurality of scraper bars spaced along the length of an elongate carrier which is disposed transverse to the side edges of the belt. Each scraper belt is removably mounted on the carrier, and the bars on opposite sides of the center line of the belt are parallel to one another and inclined at an angle with respect to the bent center line. Adjacent ones of the parallel bars have side edges which overlap with respect to an imaginary line intersecting the edges and extending parallel to the bent center line. The scraper bars engage the belt surface, and material clinging to the surface is displaced laterally outwardly toward the opposite sides of the belt.

  • Patent number: 3994385
Abstract: The conveyor belt cleaner serves as a mechanical cleaner for an endless conveyor belt entrained about a pair of drums and includes a plurality of independently operable scraper or wiper blade assemblies for removing from the conveyor belt various types of abrasives and other objectionable foreign material. Each scraper blade assembly includes an elongated arm or lever which is pivotally mounted on a pivot pin of a bracket assembly. Adjustable stop means is interposed between the bracket assembly and the arm at one side of the pivot pin to limit the pivotal movement of the arm in one direction. An extension spring is interposed between the bracket assembly and the arm at the other side of the pivot pin for urging the arm in said one direction to bias the scraper blade, secured to one end of the arm, towards the belt. As the blade wears, the extension spring pivots the arm and continues to bias the blade towards the belt, with the pivoting of the arm being limited by the adjustable stop means.
