Patent number: 11206862Abstract: A two stage system for extraction of oil from whole citrus fruit is provided. The first stage is known in the art and includes a first plurality of toothed rollers which convey citrus as the teeth penetrate and rupture oil glands. The oil passes into a first water pan. A novel second stage uses a second plurality of toothed rollers to continue the penetration and rupturing of oil glands. The second plurality of rollers are positioned in an isolated second pan to partially submerge the citrus. A middle phase liquor with extremely low oil concentration is transferred into said second pan to initiate desorption of oil from the citrus. The desorption technique in one embodiment increases yield by 4% or more. This technique is expected to increase yield even more as the recovery by the first stage is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2019Date of Patent: December 28, 2021Inventors: Roger Waters, Carlos Valentin Gallo, Santiago Manuel Sosa, Victor Francisco Onchi Navarro

The rotating drum 11, through its internal structure including lift fins 16 and associate structure, position the oblong articles on counter-rotating shaft conveyor 13. The articles proceed down the counter-rotating shaft conveyor 13 to a chain link loading mechanism 36 placing the sorted articles in receiving slots on chain link conveyor 37. Incorporated in the invention of this device are control structures such as feed control tilt flaps 20 and their associated structure which controls the rate of supply of articles to the rotating drum 11 by feed conveyor 12 and return rejected articles to the rear of the drum. A detector 29 is incorporated in association with the counter-rotating shaft conveyor 13 and include shaft conveyor light source 30, the shaft conveyor electric eye 31, and clearing means 32.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1979Date of Patent: June 23, 1981Inventor: Henry B. Patent number: 4248142Abstract: The method and apparatus for extracting oil from the peel of whole citrus fruit accumulates a plurality of rows of citrus fruit articles and then causes mass movement of said accumulation to displace a similar group of whole fruit articles being processed in troughs or pockets between power-driven parallel toothed rolls. The accumulation may be accomplished by means of a movable barrier gate near the lower end of an inclined chute on which the fruit articles accumulate.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 1979Date of Patent: February 3, 1981Assignee: Brown International CorporationInventor: James E. Patent number: 4223778Abstract: A parison handling assembly receives tubular plastic parisons from a random bulk storage, orients the parisons, and feeds the parisons in a controlled manner to one or more blow molding machines. Parisons are stored in the random bulk storage and fed at a controlled rate by a metering apparatus to a parison orienter which orients the parisons into a closely grouped arrangement wherein the parisons are both upright and side-by-side. The parisons are fed from the parison orienter to a parison escapement mechanism which holds the parisons temporarily. The escapement mechanism is actuated to release parisons into a parison transporter depending on the production demands of the individual blow-molding machines. Released parisons, from the parison escapement mechanism, move along the parison transporter to be pushed axially into stuffer tubes. The stuffer tubes hold the parisons in properly oriented, end-to-end relationship for delivery to the actual loading station of the blow-molding machine.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1978Date of Patent: September 23, 1980Assignee: Owens-Illinois, Inc.Inventor: Robert F. Patent number: 4212584Abstract: An inclined conveyor for lowering uniformly spaced, cylindrical articles comprises a pair of inclined rails, paired pivotal rockers and fingers disposed along the inclined rails, and a pair of drawbars for sequentially pivoting the inclined pairs of rockers and fingers. The paired pivotal rockers and fingers are so cooperably disposed as to define a series of article receiving pockets accommodating controlled gravitational movement of the articles along the rails, as the rockers and fingers are sequentially pivoted by the drawbars.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1978Date of Patent: July 15, 1980Assignee: American Can CompanyInventor: Donald O. Patent number: 4174028Abstract: An unoriented supply of similar articles, each having a shank and a head of greater dimension than the shank are introduced into orienting means which include a trough having an inclined slot at its bottom and a plurality of cleats positioned at fixed locations on its side walls. Upon vibration, the articles become separated resulting in certain of the articles becoming oriented within the slot, with the unoriented articles being returned to the supply. The oriented articles are then directed to storing means which include a track including a straight lower portion, level maintaining means and a discharge end wherein the articles are discharged at a predetermined rate to article receiving, positioning and carrying means.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1978Date of Patent: November 13, 1979Assignee: Amerace CorporationInventor: Gerald Barnes

Patent number: 4163490Abstract: A hinged gate and flexible loading seal for an inclined conveyor, more particularly for an inclined apron conveyor with pushers for carrying loose, bulk material. The pushers, longitudinally spaced either in staggered arrangement across the conveyor surface or each fully traversing the conveyor width, reduce gross downward movement of the material during conveyor ascent. A segmental gate is hinged above the conveyor in the vicinity of transfer from an unloading conveyor, allows upward passage of the pushers and interrupts downward movement of conveyed material. A flexible, resilient seal fixed above the conveyor and positioned downstream of the hinged gate prevents further downward retreat of escaping conveyed material and redeposits same upstream on advancing pushers.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1977Date of Patent: August 7, 1979Assignee: Rexnord Inc.Inventor: Ulrich Timm

Patent number: 4148391Abstract: An item accumulator and conveyor for accumulating a row of items and then conveying it off to one side for collection and stacking of the row. A first conveyor brings the items to two other conveyors, or to one conveyor having two sections. One of the two sections supports the items at one elevation and accumulates them in a row, and conveyor supports then permit the first section to lower and thereby transfer the items to the second section at a lower level, and the second section then moves the items off to one side. The two conveyor sections include movable support members and they may be at a declining angle so that the items can move under the force of gravity.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1977Date of Patent: April 10, 1979Assignee: Stobb, Inc.Inventor: Walter J. Patent number: 4069909Abstract: A fruit feeder adapted to elevate a plurality of fruit pieces along a diagonal pathway from a bottom position to a top position in a stair-step transfer arrangement. The feeder is operated by fluid cylinder and is adapted to deliver individual fruit members arranged in a row to continuously or discontinuously moving fruit holders located functionally adjacent the upper end portion of the fruit feeder.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1977Date of Patent: January 24, 1978Inventors: James E.
