A door is mounted on the wall of the second chamber, and the rejected vessel is discharged through the door. The sterile chambers are disposed within a processing chamber. The pressure within the first chamber is controlled to be higher than the pressure (atmospheric pressure) within the processing chamber and the pressure within the second chamber is controlled to be lower than the atmospheric pressure.

A frameless and coverless tunnel construction method clamps the frameless tunnel around the bed assembly housing, and uses a leaded curtain bracket and slot to increase the enclosed area within the tunnel housing for a given scanner width and height. For a coverless construction, the outside of the tunnel is finished cosmetically and any lead shielding is attached to the inside of the tunnel, instead of the outside. The conveyor device comprises a conveyor belt, rollers and a conveyor tracking device having first and second channels formed in first and second rails.

The design permits a rational series production and permits the use of the conveyor even for a delivery of very hot moldings made of plastics which have aggressive and/or abrasive properties. When slats or chain links have become soiled to such an extent that the function of the conveyor may adversely be affected or when defects have occurred, such parts can be replaced with a low expenditure of work and with a simple manipulation.

When the desired number of strips have been counted, a push plate pushes a stack of lasagna strips into the receiving section of a narrow belt bulk conveyor for transport to the packaging station. First retaining means are then moved to closed position to retain opposite ends of the lasagna stacks on each side of the push plate. Following withdrawal of the push plate, second retaining means are moved to close the opening created by the withdrawal of the push plate.

The system further includes a light trap for inhibiting light from passing from the welding station through the housing opening to the exterior to the housing and a conveyor for conveying workpieces between workpieces loading and unloading stations located exteriorly of the housing and the welding station through the housing opening and the light trap.A method of laser welding a succession of workpieces is also disclosed comprising the steps of successively loading workpieces onto a conveyor at a loading station and conveying the workpieces through a light trap to a welding station located within a housing. The workpieces are illuminated with laser radiation at the welding station and then conveyed through a light trap out of the housing to an unloading station where they are unloaded.
