Patent number: 8499362Abstract: Bulletproof vests, body armor, and other tactical vests with quick release buckle mechanisms are described along with methods of their use. The multi-point buckle mechanisms release upon rotating a shaft, allowing the vest panels and straps to fall cleanly to the ground without knocking the wearer off balance. Waist belt clips allow a wearer to put the vest on over his or her head without engaging the emergency release, or the multi-point buckle mechanism can release only the waist straps upon rotating the shaft in the opposite direction. A flap protects the rotatable quick release mechanism from inadvertent activation.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2012Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Guardian Protective Technologies Inc.Inventor: David Dennis

Patent number: 8359664Abstract: Systems and methods for retaining camouflage material from the natural surrounding of a user. A device includes a retaining mechanism and at least two coupling mechanisms for attaching the device to the clothing, or person, of the user. Alternatively, the device includes elastomeric banding to attach a device to the user. The device includes a backing plate to provide tension across the retaining mechanism. The user immobilizes the camouflage material by inserting the camouflage material between the retaining mechanism and the clothing, apparel or person of the user.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2011Date of Patent: January 29, 2013Inventors: Clyde S. Morgan, Collin Morgan

Patent number: 7942856Abstract: A garment for securing and storing bodily fluid drainage reservoirs and other fluid reservoirs. The garment comprises a loose-fitting body with at least one small aperture for receiving drainage tubing and at least one pocket cloth partly fixed to the body of the garment and partly detachably coupled to the body of the garment which allows for the easy storage and removal of the fluid drainage reservoir. The pocket cloth allows for the continuing support of the drainage reservoir as the drainage reservoir becomes heavier e.g. about 1 kilogram, due to the collection of fluid draining from the patient into the drainage reservoir. The secure storage of the drainage reservoir enables the wearer to move without worry of the drainage reservoir coming loose, losing fluid, or being exposed to a non-sterile environment external to the pocket cloth. The garment may be configured for wear by male and female children and adults.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2007Date of Patent: May 17, 2011Inventor: Nedda Joy Lentini

Patent number: 6792621Abstract: An article of clothing includes a waterproof inner fabric layer and an outer fabric layer. An outer opening is defined in the outer fabric layer and is selectively opened and closed by a standard zipper. A portion of the inner fabric layer extends between the edges of the outer opening and defines an inner opening. The inner opening is selectively opened and closed by a water-resistant zipper. Venting material extends between the edges of the inner opening and allows air to flow through the inner opening when both the inner and outer openings are opened.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2001Date of Patent: September 21, 2004Assignee: Harley-Davidson Motor Company Group, Inc.Inventor: David Braun

Patent number: 6668386Abstract: A sealing system for sealing a garment around an appendage formed by an annular tube surrounding a passage (cuff) through which appendage is intended to protrude and a pull cord extending through said tube for a length to completely encircle said passage over more than 360°. At least one end of the pull cord passes out through a wall of the tube to provide an accessible end for adjusting the length of said cord around said passage and thereby tighten or loosening pressure of tube toward said appendage and form a seal between the tube and the appendage.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2002Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Inventor: Naomi Vidal

Publication number: 20020095130Abstract: A self-adhesive garment closure for a garment includes a pair of opposed cooperating fastener elements, each having an exposed layer of self-adhesive material exhibiting strong adhesion to itself while remaining relatively tack-free to other materials. At least one of the fastener elements has a layer of foam material beneath the self-adhesive material, such as for increased bending stiffness. In some cases, such as for pull-up diapers, the self-adhesive closure is non-releasable once secured. Some closures also have cooperating hook-and-loop elements.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2001Publication date: July 18, 2002Inventors: Christopher R. Seitter, William H. Shepard

Patent number: 6308344Abstract: The present invention relates to a garment construction comprising an outer waterproof/breatheable fabric layer to which is attached a reticulated foam to space the inner surface of the outer garment layer from the ordinary clothes of a wearer of the garment, which is suitably a jacket, to enable air flow within the garment to remove water vapour through vents provided in the garment. The garment thereby allows the user to perform strenuous activity whilst remaining dry.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2000Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Inventor: Andrew David Spink

Patent number: 5991924Abstract: In a garment, such as a firefighter's garment, which has a collar having two front portions, a foldable chinstrap having a primary portion, a secondary portion, and two opposite ends may be fastened in a substantially permanent manner, as by sewing, at the primary portion to one such front portion of the collar, near one such end of the chinstrap. In an unfolded condition, in which the primary portion of the chinstrap is disposed below the secondary portion, the primary portion of the chinstrap can be releasably fastened, as by a hook-and-pile fastener, to the other front portion of the collar, near the other end of the chinstrap. In the unfolded condition, moreover, the secondary portion of the chinstrap can be releasably fastened, as by hook-and-pile fasteners, to the front portions of the collar, near the opposite ends of the chinstrap.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1997Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: Norcross Safety Products, L.L.C.Inventors: William L.
