Abstract: A surgical gown is disclosed in which the main body of the gown is fan folded around transversely extending fold lines. The sleeves of the gown are inserted between the lowermost fold or bottom fold in the gown and the next adjacent fold. Abstract: A gown sleeve has a zone which extends from a lower end proximate the wrist end of the sleeve to an upper end above the elbow area of the sleeve. The zone comprises an outer layer of base sleeve material, an inner layer of sleeve lining material, and a mid layer of barrier material. The barrier material is a water-repellent, air-porous nonwoven fabric web which is encased between the outer and inner layers. The sleeve zone further comprises a first bond around the sleeve at the lower end of the zone and a second bond around the sleeve at the upper end of the zone. These bonds bond the outer and inner layers to one another while the mid layer is excluded from the bonds.

  • Patent number: 4473908
Abstract: Garments covering the arms and upper torso made of a one-piece or multi-piece pattern in which the central axis of the sleeves are naturally positioned forward of the lateral plane of the body (rather than with the conventional fitted position placement in the lateral plane). The low point of the armhole is advantageously at the side front in the center of the armpit when the arm is raised. The garment is fitted to accommodate arms positioned at an angle substantially forward of the lateral plane of the body, preferably ranging between about 18.degree. and about 45.degree.. Contrary to conventional wisdom, the garments fit a body position which is in the center area of the natural arm movement range relative to the torso and which is naturally unsymmetric between front and back.
