Patent number: 8938813Abstract: An improved device for restraining the two ends of a necktie is described. The device, which will be referred to as a “tieloop,” consists of an elongated member having first and second ends, with first and second magnetic members positioned at those ends, respectively, enabling the ends to be coupled and uncoupled. The second magnetic member is complimentary to the first magnetic member so as to enable selective coupling between the first end and the second end. In one preferred embodiment, the first end of the tieloop is inserted into the seam of a necktie, and the second end of the tieloop couples to the first end on the opposite site of the necktie seam to selectively couple the tieloop to the necktie, thereby forming a loop.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2012Date of Patent: January 27, 2015Inventor: Robert McDowell

Patent number: 6490763Abstract: The invention offers a clip that makes it possible to use any necktie as is by the enabling the simple tying of a necktie knot with a single step. The invention is a roll-knot necktie clip that is formed from a holding frame (1) having a claw-shaped catch section (2a) and an inside holding frame (4a) in the shape of a ring that is joined to the base (5) by a connector plate (8). The second working example of the invention is an improved version made from the first working example and is formed from the holding frame (1) and the inside holding frame (4a). The second working example makes it possible to form a knot in nearly a single step without the use of a screw or other device by folding the inside of the essential part (14) and holding this in the inside holding frame, then inserting the outside (11a) and inside (11b) of the necktie (11b) that are overlapped in a U-shape into the holding frame.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2001Date of Patent: December 10, 2002Inventor: Genichi Tamura

Patent number: 6209136Abstract: The invention relates to a multipurpose necktie (1) with an overall length consisting of a neck portion (2) of one width, a tie portion (3), and a front apron (4). The tie portion can be tied to a knot. The multipurpose necktie is made in one piece and variable in that at least one foldable portion of the front apron of a first length of at least 15 cm is constructed from at least two freely foldable flaps. An additional possibility of variation is provided by an adjustability of the overall length of the multipurpose necktie, the overall length being repeatedly variable, and/or by an adjustability of the width of neck portion (2), the width being repeatedly variable. Furthermore, a method is provided, which uses the multiple usability of the multipurpose necktie with advantage. The multipurpose necktie of the present invention is characterized by its variety for different occasions, be they of the formal or casual kind.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 1999Date of Patent: April 3, 2001Inventor: Thomas Ophardt

Patent number: 6115841Abstract: A cleaning cloth wiper for glass lenses that is permanently attached to the back of each of the ends of a necktie, thereby providing the eyeglass wearing professional an immediately available means of cleaning one's glass lenses. The cleaning cloth material (18A, 18B) is attached on the back side of the ends (12, 14) of the outer shell (10) fabric, which comprises the main portion of, and is cut in the shape of, a standard necktie. The lateral edges of the outer shell (10) are then folded around the interlining (16) of the necktie and attached to form a seam traversing the length of the back of the necktie. By the manner of attachment to the back of the necktie, the wipers become outwardly concealed when the necktie is worn, so that the necktie maintains its traditional appearance.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1999Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Inventors: Richard E. Patent number: 5123118Abstract: The present invention allows an ordinary necktie to be converted into usage as a clip-on necktie. A pair of flexible plastic fasteners are provided with a series of slots at one end of each fastener. The necktie is threaded through selected slots such that a span of necktie is formed between the ends of the fasteners. The tie is then tied in a normal fashion using any form of knot selected by the users. Once formed, the clip-on necktie may be assumed by placing the ends of the fasteners around the neck so that the fastening portions engage and interlock.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1992Date of Patent: June 23, 1992Inventor: Bob Shaw

Patent number: 4610037Abstract: A tie panel extends down from a tie knot to which is attached a neckband for disposition around the neck of a wearer so that the tie panel extends downwardly from the tie knot when the tie is worn. A number of buttonholes extend through the tie panel and receive the buttons from the wearer's shirt to thereby position the tie up against the wearer's shirt. Additionally, the tie panel is formed with stitching along its edging simulating the stitching on the wearer's shirt front. The lower end of the tie panel is tapered inwardly and formed to be folded under and against the rear face of the tie panel; and to be adjustably secured in position by means of a pair of spaced straps, a number of buttonholes and an attaching button all secured to the rear face of the tie panel. When so selectively secured the tie length can be adjusted according to the wearer's height, body proportions and personal desires.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1985Date of Patent: September 9, 1986Inventor: Xavier Haymer
