Patent number: 12053039Abstract: A color splash effect is established by a darker backdrop color of an outer surface of a liquid proof and heat resistant glove in the event that a portion of the glove ruptures or fails. The color splash effect is accomplished by a lighter and brighter color being visible through the rupture in the glove. The lighter and brighter color may be formed on or as part of a protective member positioned beneath the outer layer. The protective member also protects the wearer against sharp objects contacting the outer layer of the glove and moving over the protective member. Some embodiments provide that the protective member is in a thumb crotch region of the glove.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2023Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: SUMMIT GLOVE INC.Inventor: James L Hull

Patent number: 11925222Abstract: A safety glove having a protective member or insert extending around the fingertip of the safety glove is provided. The protective member may be positioned along the outer surface or the inner surface of the glove. Alternatively, the protective member may be integrally formed between two layers of glove material. The protective member terminates distally from an interphalangeal joint line to enable finger flexion in order to grasp an item, such as a slab of meat to be deskinned in a skinning machine. The glove may include a rough outer surface formed from thrice dipping the glove and allowing the glove to cure. Additionally, the glove may have a width near the wrist that is wider than the width near the palm to enable the glove to be rapidly removed (i.e., doffed) in an emergency event of the glove getting caught in a rotating blade on the skinning machine.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2022Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: SUMMIT GLOVE INC.Inventor: James L. Publication number: 20140173805Abstract: A latex glove article with a fibrous coating bonded to the skin-contacting surface. Long length soft moisture absorbing fibers are attached to latex layer of a glove with a thin layer of polymeric latex adhesive forming a fibrous lining. The long length fibers have a length ranging from 4 to 100 times the thickness of the polymeric latex adhesive layer and therefore extend or project from the polymeric latex adhesive coating. The fibers penetrate the polymeric latex adhesive layer at one end or both end of the fiber to a depth of about 60% to about 100% of the adhesive thickness, leaving a substantial portion of the fiber available for soft contact with skin and sweat absorption. Due to the substantial thickness of the fibrous lining, an air gap is created between skin and the impervious latex layer establishing continual evaporation of absorbed sweat and evaporative cooling.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2014Publication date: June 26, 2014Inventors: Noorman Bin Abu Hassan, David M. Patent number: 8651323Abstract: A hand protection barrier dispenser for dispensing disposable sanitary barriers for temporarily covering the hand and providing complete hand protection is disclosed which dispenses the hand protection barriers in a manner so that they may easily be donned by a user thereof. The hand protection barrier operates to open each of the hand protection barriers into a position to be readily donned and dispensed. The hand protection barrier dispenser dispenses only a single hand protection barrier at a time.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2012Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Inventors: Kenneth R. Publication number: 20130333094Abstract: Disclosed are appendage mountable electronic systems and related methods for covering and conforming to an appendage surface. A flexible or stretchable substrate has an inner surface for receiving an appendage, including an appendage having a curved surface, and an opposed outer surface that is accessible to external surfaces. A stretchable or flexible electronic device is supported by the substrate inner and/or outer surface, depending on the application of interest. The electronic device in combination with the substrate provides a net bending stiffness to facilitate conformal contact between the inner surface and a surface of the appendage provided within the enclosure. In an aspect, the system is capable of surface flipping without adversely impacting electronic device functionality, such as electronic devices comprising arrays of sensors, actuators, or both sensors and actuators.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2013Publication date: December 19, 2013Applicant: The Board of Trustees of the University of IllinoisInventor: The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois

Patent number: 8602962Abstract: A therapeutic glove specifically adapted to simultaneously apply a combination of acupressure and magnetic therapy to specific acupoint sites on the hand resulting in therapeutic benefits, including providing an effective headache remedy is disclosed. A fingerless glove incorporates an inflatable bladder disposed formed on the palm of the glove for application of acupressure to HT-8 and PC-8 acupoints. A hand-pump is in pneumatic communication with the bladder and functions to allow the user to inflate the bladder to a desired pressure. First and second permanent magnets are disposed on the dorsal portion of the glove and disposed so as to be in covering relation with the TH-3 and LI-4 acupoints. An adjustable dorsal strap is configured to wrap over the first and second permanent magnets as well as the bladder thereby providing a compressive force.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2011Date of Patent: December 10, 2013Inventors: Shlomi Gavish, Gady Abramson

Patent number: 8578519Abstract: A protective barrier, such as a medical examination glove is provided that includes a bracelet defining a plane with a cylinder attached to the bracelet at a first end. The cylinder is compressed into a compressed conformation in the plane without rolling about the bracelet. When the barrier is a glove, three fenestrated caps are provided, each such cap attached to the cylinder at different locations along the length of the cylinder when said first cylinder is in an extended conformation. Multiple finger cylinders are each attached to the cylinder at a location of a fenestrated cap, the finger cylinders each having an end cap. The first cylinder and the finger cylinders each compressed into a compressed conformation in the plane such that each of the caps forms a portion of the surface of the plane.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2010Date of Patent: November 12, 2013Inventors: Allen B. Publication number: 20130291282Abstract: The present invention is to an improved glove having both anatomically correlating stress relief zones and/or reinforced zones to add support in areas opposite the stress relief zones to keep bunching or slipping of the glove from interfering with the bending of the user's joints. The glove may have corrugated relief zones over some or all of the joints and knuckles of the hand, wherein the relief zones are formed of peaks and valleys. A relief zone can also be provided over the webbing between the thumb and the palm. The vertical or longitudinal relief zones provide for improved glove quality while keeping manufacturing difficulty and costs at a minimum.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2013Publication date: November 7, 2013Inventor: Paul Anstey
