  • Patent number: 5452712
Abstract: The present invention relates to a disposable smoke mask that is designed to be pulled over the head of a person. The disposable smoke mask includes a cooperating elastic forehead strap and a wrap-around elastic strap. The forehead strap can be pulled down so as to extend under the chin of a person wearing the smoke mask. To securely seal the mask about the head, the wrap-around strap is stretched and extended around the back of the neck area and underneath the chin of the wearer and then the wrap-around strap is extended along one side of the face area of the mask where it is secured in place. In the end, the forehead strap and the wrap-around strap cooperate to seal the mask around the face of the person wearing the same. Formed in the front of the smoke mask is a multi-stage filter, a one-way check valve, and a see through vinyl panel.

  • Patent number: 5245994
Abstract: An air cleaning and supplying system is provided to a helmet for a user riding a motorcycle. The air cleaning and supplying system is capable of providing cleaned air and supplies the same to the helmet for ventilating the air inside the helmet as well as for the motorcyclist to breathe the cleaned air when the motorcyclist is riding in a hot and air-polluted atmosphere. A blower coupled with a filter utilizes the power from the engine of the motorcycle for sucking air from the atmosphere. The filter is capable of filtering out pollutant gaseous particles from the air passing therethrough. An air hose connected between the helmet and the blower is used for conducting the cleaned air from the blower to the helmet. The cleaned air thus received by the helmet is separated into two parts: one part is sent into the helmet and used for circulating the air inside the helmet, and the other part is sent to a mouthpiece for the user to breathe.

  • Patent number: 5038776
Abstract: Head harness form gas mask consists of several pieces of biaxially stretchable elastic fabric stitched together to provide a concave configuration in the relaxed state. The harness is shaped and sized to fit a range of normal human heads by stretching over the back and top of the head. The forward edge of the harness has a number of tongues of the elastic fabric that attach to a gas mask. The preferred material for the harness is a 280 denier bare spandex power net fabric that has a flat load versus elongation curve. A gas mask fitted with the harness applies a uniform pressure within the comfort range on the face of the wearer without significant adjustment of the harness, despite wide ranges in the head size and configuration of the wearer.

A limited area, located an equal distance from the two ends of the piece, is knit with a tighter stitch to provide a gathered area. Two similar tighter stitched, gathered areas are provided between the central gathered area and each of the ends of the piece. These two additional gathered areas on both sides of the central area are relatively spaced closer together than their spacing from the central area and the ends of the tubular piece. The tubular piece is folded back on itself using the central gathered area as a fold line, the two opposite ends being brought together. The two additional gathered areas, which were on opposite sides of the central area, are now together, one overlapping the other. A second fold is now made in the piece. The piece is folded back on itself a second time using a point midway between the two additional gathered areas as the fold line. This second fold line is a closed, smooth surface.
