Abstract: Headgear for mounting a headlight on a surgeon's head includes a headband and a stabilizer. The headband encircles the wearer's head and the stabilizer is connectable to a rear section of the headband for engaging and cradling a substantial portion of at least a lower back region of a wearer's head when the headgear is worn by the wearer. The stabilizer includes a peripheral extending portion extending beneath the headband on opposite sides of the wearer's head corresponding to a location of a lower portion of an occipital bone of the wearer's head and a peripheral portion extending above the headband on opposite sides of the wearer's head corresponding to a location of a top of the occipital bone. The headgear can also include a connection element for removably connecting the stabilizer to the headband so that the headgear can be worn with or without the stabilizer.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a headgear that provides a moisture wicking mechanism. It includes a visor with multiple soft absorbing sections for rapid drainage and evaporation of the moisture; wicking regions on the crown; a sweatband that comfortably secures the headgear to the head, and may further facilitate absorption of moisture; a protective shield that protects the skin of the head from chafing due to embroidery or lapel pins, where such embroidery may be added after the manufacturing process; a sweat dome on the crown that absorbs the moisture from the top of the head; and a visor insert that stays firm and durable when subjected to repeated washing. These features may appear independently, or in any combination in any given embodiment of the headgear. This invention helps to keep the head dry and cool, increases the comfort of the wearer, and decreases perspiration, odor, especially for bald persons.
Abstract: A retractable hat tether apparatus for a hat having a cap portion is provided. The tether apparatus includes a guide base movably mounted to the cap portion for movement thereof along a fixed path between a first position and a second position. A flexible tether includes a first end and an opposite second end thereof mounted to the guide base. A bottle opener device is mounted to the first end, and is configured to function as a conventional bottle opener. The bottle opener device includes a clip member for releasable attachment to the cap portion.

Abstract: Headwear such as a hat, cap, or visor with a headband and a brim extending outwardly therefrom includes a crescent shaped opening defined by an inner portion of the brim and an external leading edge of the headband. Beyond the opening the opaque brim extends away from the headband to an outward tip, and to lateral side edges. The opaque brim is attached at its lateral edges directly to the external leading edge of the headband. The crescent shaped opening allows more flow at a central area of the brim, yet it narrows toward lateral edges of the brim to ensure that sunlight toward the wearer's sides is adequately blocked from eye contact. This novel structure provides maximum shading of the wearer's face, yet directs considerable airflow from beneath and above the brim through the opening to cool the wearer's eccrine glands along the forehead.
