  • Patent number: 5867835
Abstract: The Danae Scarf is an improved invention of a fashion accessory, one of neckwear apparel, referred to as a Scarf. The invention is designed to be draped about the wearer's neck and is comprised of a continuous circle of elongated tubular fabric having a neckband portion and a draping portion. The continuous circle is made from a single elongated rectangle of fabric wherein one free end of the elongated tube is twisted through 360 degrees about a longitudinal axis of the tube and attached to the other free end of the tube to form a one sided continuous circle of tubular fabric. A narrow neckband portion is then formed by accordion pleating/folding and securing circular tube at the intersection of the lengthwise/crosswise stitching thereby creating a neckband portion and a draping portion.

  • Patent number: 5832537
Abstract: An improved flexible bill for caps and other head covering devices is disclosed. The improvement comprising a four layer construction of the bill with upper and lower layers made of a relatively stretchable material such as cotton and with a non-stretchable layer that overlies one of the inner layers. The preferred non-stretchable member is a cotton and rayon blend that is bonded to itself so as to form a relatively non-stretchable layer. The combination of layers allows for folding in one direction only, such as folded upward or folded downward. Lines of stitching going across the bill provide folding lines along which the bill may be folded. The bill may be folded upward along these lines in incremental amounts and the use of the non-stretchable layers enables the bill to retain this folded up shape.

  • Patent number: 5621921
Abstract: A hat or collar uses a tubular sleeve of an oval annular configuration. The sleeve is composed of a flexible fabric having sufficient body and firmness to retain full malleable wire capable of being deformed by hand and is placed within the sleeve. The wire is of such length and general configuration as to fit within, conform to and generally define an outer periphery of the annular configuration of the sleeve throughout most of the length of that periphery. It preferably is stitched in position so that it can slip somewhat relative to the fabric as the malleable wire is deformed by hand. Forming the wire by hand changes the shape and appearance of the hat such that it retains such changed shape until again deformed by hand. The elastic connector attached to each of the respective ends of the tubular sleeve elastically interconnects those ends so that sufficient stretch is provided that the inner periphery of the annulus can serve as a hat band adjusting to the wearer's head size.

Abstract: A scarf or other band-like apparel member which includes a pliable metal wire positioned interiorly of the scarf or the like, together with means to facilitate grasping the metal wire to aid in forming the scarf or other apparel member to the desired configuration or adjustment. When used us a scarf, the band-like apparel member of the invention is adapted to be easily adjusted to the proper neck size of the wearer since the pliable metal wire which forms part of the scarf can be twisted to adjust the size of the scarf to the proper neck size, thereby eliminating the need for additional accessories or the like such as scarf clips, pins or knots. A particular feature of the band-like apparel member of the invention is that once it has been adjusted to a desired optimum position, location, or angle it remains in that adjusted position until purposely changed.
