  • Patent number: 10306367
Abstract: An electronic device such as a pair of headphones may be provided with left and right speakers for playing audio to a user. Control circuitry in the electronic device may play audio through the speakers in an unreversed configuration in which left channel audio is played through a first of the speakers that is adjacent to a left ear of the user and right channel audio is played through a second of the speakers that is adjacent to a right ear of the user or a reversed configuration in which these channel assignments are reversed. A grip sensor may be used to distinguish between the user's left hand and the user's right hand. A motion sensor may detect movement as the headphones are placed on the user's head or on someone else's head. Control circuitry may use grip information and motion information to determine left and right channel assignments.

Abstract: A wind absorbing and deflecting device attached to the leading strap on a cycling helmet to reduce wind noise while ambient sound passes through to the inner ear so that the user's hearing in not impaired. The device is located in front of the user's ear and against the temple. It is fabricated from faux fur with a pile length of approximately ½ inch and/or soft fleece with a thickness of ¼ to ½ inches. While cycling, the device deflects oncoming wind while the soft fleece and/or faux fur absorbs variable wind gusts and turbulence. The direct wind flow over the ear and particularly over the ear canal is significantly reduced so there is less air pressure variation and less wind noise.

The halo deflects the flow of warm air away from exposed skin portions of the head, neck and shoulders. An arcuate upturned extension on its front portion deflects air flow back to the interior of the hood of the dryer. The unitary halo may be continuous or split for adjustability and hinged for increased manipulability.
