Abstract: A functional pair of pants for men and women with spinal injuries that allow improved access to the pelvic region without removal of the pants. A moveable front flap is formed on the pants via side zippers and a top fastening means that extends across the front of the waistband of the pants. Even individuals with limited fine motor skills can manipulate the corded zipper pulls to allow access for changing an ostomy bag, diaper, or catheterization.
Abstract: A clasp is disclosed wherein two housings with fingers are interlocked in a transition fit and then secured by a central lock bar. The clasp is beneficially applied to open space between garment edges whereby the garment is fastened and sized.
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for an automatic zipper. An apparatus for an automatic zipper includes a first placket tab and a second placket tab located on opposing sides of a zipper. The zipper also includes a slider body. The apparatus also includes a zipper connector permanently coupling the slider body to an anchor location on the first placket tab. The zipper connector is substantially non-stretchable and has a length such that the zipper connector maintains the distance between the anchor location and the slider body to be substantially the same or less than the distance between the anchor location and the slider body in the closed position.
Abstract: An opening and closure mechanism for a zipper, the mechanism including a resilient elastic band or strap secured to the zipper handle with opposing ends of the resilient elastic strap being secured to at least one side of the waist band closure, and preferably opposing ends of the resilient elastic strap being secured to opposing sides of the waist band closure such that separating the waist band closure causes the resilient elastic strap to open the zipper closure mechanism by retracting the zipper handle downwardly; and closure of the waist band fastener releases tension on the resilient elastic strap allowing the resilient elastic strap to retract the zipper upwardly to a closed position.
Abstract: An adjustable children's garment is provided that utilizes hook and loop type connections for adjustments. There is also provided an adjustable connection for garments that includes three flaps. The second flap may be adjustably or removably connected to the first flap and a third, cover flap may be connected over the first and second flap to protect the hook and loop connection. The three flap a arrangement provides for a more secure fastener.
Abstract: An expanded waistband device that is affixed to a garment, worn about the waist, that has a selectively closeable seam such as a zipper or the like. A flap of material, held in place by mechanical fasteners, is used to span a seam that cannot be closed due to the physique of a wearer. The flap of material adds material to the waistband of the garment, expanding the size of the garment, allowing it to be comfortably worn. The expanded waistband device can be retrofitted onto undersized clothes and manufactured as part of new clothes to provide a custom fit to people with large abdominal regions.
Abstract: A pants closure adapted for use on a pair of pants (12) comprising a first plate (14) mounted to the underlapping flap (39) of pants (12) and having a retaining clasp (16) extending outwardly therefrom; a slide handle (52) attached to slide elements (46, 48) and with a first hole (54) which fits over the retaining clasp (16); and a second plate (20) mounted to the overlapping flap (36) of pants (12) and having a second hole (22) which fits over the retaining clasp (16). When the forgoing elements are assembled, the slide handle (52) is sandwiched between first plate (14) and second plate (20) while in registry with retaining clasp (16).
Abstract: The invention relates to a garment placket and the method of forming it in which two pieces of material are folded and attached to the garment in such a manner as to present finished edges for the slit in the garment and which pieces also overlie the placket opening to present a closed appearance thereto. The two pieces of material are attached to the garment in such a manner that both lie completely on one face of the garment.
