Abstract: A clothing system that may include a lower component of an article of clothing and one or more upper components of an article of clothing that may be sized and configured to be selectively and/or interchangeably connected to and disconnected from the lower component. For example, a first upper component may include a generally fixed waistband, and a second upper component may include an expandable maternity waistband. Desirably, a woman may connect the first upper component to the lower component to form an article of clothing that she may wear when not pregnant and/or during her first months of her pregnancy. The woman may later disconnect the first upper component from the lower component and then connect the second upper component to the lower component to form an article of clothing that she may wear during her latter months of her pregnancy and/or during her recovery from pregnancy.

Abstract: A pair of pants with an adjustable waist including an elastic band extending lengthwise around the interior of the waistband. The elastic band includes notches positioned along its length, and an engaging means (for example, a button), which is attached to the waistband near each end of the elastic band. The engaging means affixes to the elastic band through different notches to adjust the size of the waist in the pants. The pants also have a unique cut, including a shortened transverse distance from the button to the crotch in the front of the pants, and an elongated transverse distance from the crotch to the waistband in the back of the pants.

A garment upper portion has a belly panel that is expansible to cover and fit over a growing abdomen during different stages of pregnancy, and a garment lower portion having a first torso encircling circumference that recedes downward to make way for expansion of the belly panel. The garment upper portion has a second torso encircling circumference to hold the garment up and in place over the torso.

Abstract: A system to aid in ultrasound scanning of breast tissue includes a fabric covering, which is adapted to hold the breast tissue in place during scanning, an ultrasonic coupling agent applied to one of the covering or the breast tissue, and a lenticular-shaped pad to cover the nipple of the breast tissue. The pad is placed beneath and held in place by the fabric covering, and the covering is capable of absorbing the coupling agent and conducting ultrasonic energy with minimal interference.

Abstract: The present invention relates to pants capable of lifting sagging buttocks when a user wears them, thereby giving a sense of comfort as well as a good appearance to the user. The pants include elastic first wings, wherein each one side of the first wings is seamed with both outer edges of the upper portion of a rear fabric panel in a longitudinal direction and the other side of each of the first wings is seamed with a front fabric panel along zipper seam lines, respectively, and second wings wherein each one side of the second wings is seamed, independent from the first wings, to the portions seamed with the first wings in a longitudinal direction and the other side of each of the second wings is seamed with each end of band stitched to both upper end portions of the front fabric panel.

The expandable waistband (10) is worn at the waist or hip region of wearer and conforms to the changing shape of the wearer. The stretchable band (10) temporarily attaches to the belt loops of an existing lower garment article of clothing (14) and is transferable from one lower garment to another. Belt loop attachment mechanisms (22) consisting of fasteners (30) are used to attach the main frame waistband (10) to the belt loops of an existing lower garment (14). The mainframe waistband core (10) consists of a faux-shirt overlay (24) to cover the band (10) and create the appearance of a shirt.

Another embodiment of the closure mechanism includes a waist band for extension across the opening and for selective attachment to respective fasteners located along the waist section to correspond with adjustments in the girth of the waist section.

The elastic strip defines a strip proximal section, a substantially opposed strip distal section and a strip intermediate section extending therebetween. The strip proximal and distal sections define respectively substantially opposed strip proximal and distal lateral edges. The waistband assembly also includes a first band of fabric. The first band of fabric defines a backing section, a fold section extending from the backing section and a flap section extending from the fold section. The first band of fabric is folded over the elastic strip about the fold section so that the flap section is substantially parallel to the backing section. The flap section is attached to the strip distal section with the strip distal section located between the flap section and the backing section. A second band of fabric is also provided.

Abstract: A device, for holding a garment waistband, has a flat, elongated elastic band stretchable across two belt loops, and a pair of fastener components formed by metal wire bent to form a back bar for the elastic-band-mounting end and a hook-loop fastener end for hooking onto a post member mounted to the elastic band. The back bar is formed in a thin channel shape defining a concave cross-sectional gap with a thickness such that it can be seated around the exposed length of the belt loop and clasp it by its thickness. The device provides the wearer with a slimmer profile and is more comfortable to wear than a waist-length belt. The back bar may be formed with bar halves separated by a cut-away gap to allow the elastic band to be sleeved on and off, to interchange elastic bands and/or other decorative fastener components.

In the preferred embodiment a means for adjusting is a cinch device including an elastic cord with mating snaps on a the cord and article of clothing. The cord is attached through an adjustable section of material in a manner to permit the material to be gathered or bunched together when the cord is drawn. The cinch is selectively securable by the snaps in one or more positions. In a preferred pants embodiment of the invention, the adjustment changes the distance between the waistline and crotch of the pants to increase or decrease the distance between the waistline and crotch to variably cover or reveal the lower abdominal area of the wearer.

An inner surface of each temple bracket contains an outlet opening and a passageway connecting the inlet opening and outlet opening. A block is positioned for sliding movement in the passageway and is connected to a button mounted for sliding movement on the outer surface of each temple bracket.

The elastic member provides stretching capability of up to seven times the elastic member's original length depending on the material selected. A flexible sleeve member is disposed around the elastic member. The sleeve member is less elastic than the elastic member and provides a stretch limitation to the elastic member to prevent a user from stretching the elastic member beyond a safe elongation. The ends of the sleeve and elastic members are secured proximate to one another. The ends of the elastic members are further secured to connectors. The elastic member provides stretch capability while the sleeve member provides safety features to protect the elastic member and the user.

The belt length may be adjusted. Because the belt does not span the fly opening the fly may be opened and closed in a standard fashion without the need to disconnect or reconnect the belt each time the fly is opened. The tubular body member has an elongate waist or yoke edge at an upper side and a crotch area at a lower side. The tubular body member is provided with a flap section overlapping another portion of the body member. The flap section is defined in part by a boundary edge extending in a generally downward direction from the waist edge. A flexible tensile element has a first effective end coupled to the flap section at the boundary edge and a second effective end coupled to the tubular body member at a point spaced from the boundary edge. This structure enables a user or wearer to place tension on the flap to maintain closure of the garment over a lower torso of the user.

Abstract: A pile towel construction having quick-dry properties and good absorption characteristics is described. The towel includes a substantially all-cotton pile and a ground fabric which includes moisture-transporting polyester fibers. The towel desirably includes from about 10% to about 50% moisture-transporting polyester fibers. In one embodiment of the invention, the moisture-transporting fibers are provided in only one set of the ground fabric-forming yarns, such as the weft, while the other set of yarns forming the ground fabric is made from conventional polyester and/or cotton. In another form of the invention, the ground fabric is formed from substantially 100% moisture-transporting polyester fibers, while the pile is substantially all-cotton.

Abstract: The present invention provides a waistband expander for engaging the button and button-hole on a garment to increase the fastened distance between the button and button-hole to provide comfort to the wearer. The waistband expander includes a central shaft having a first end and a second end, a button-engaging member connected to the first end for engaging a button on a garment, and a button-hole engaging member connected to the second end for engaging a button hole on the garment so as to increase the fastened distance between the button and button-hole to provide comfort to the wearer.

Abstract: A control panel is included in a pair of trousers in order to support and hold the stomach and abdomen. In particular, the control panel is made of a girdle like fabric and has a greater degree of elasticity in the horizontal direction than in the vertical direction. A front edge of the control panel is attached by a line of stitching on the inside of the pants along the length of the zipper, a rear edge of the control panel is attached along the line of stitching in the vicinity of the inseam and the top edge of the control panel is attached along a line of stitching at the waistband. The bottom edge of the control panel is not attached and hangs free.

Abstract: Provided is a high stretch composite elastic waistband that includes a relatively large ratio of drawcord to the relaxed length of an elastic web. The drawcord is fixed to the elastic web in such a way that the drawcord is allowed to move relative to the elastic web to form multiple gathers or drawcord protrusions, such as protruding loops or partial loops, as the elastic web returns to a relaxed size. The drawcord protrusions extend relative to the elastic web. The composite elastic waistband is constructed so that at least a section of the drawcord is capable of being pulled away from the elastic web so that the gathers or protrusions are diminished. Then the elastic web is capable of being stretched and released so that the elastic web contracts and cooperates with the drawcord to form the plurality of gathers or drawcord protrusions. This accumulates excess portions of the drawcord.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a maternity insert panel for jeans or other button-fly garments are shown and described. The insert is a V-shaped cloth constructed preferably of a firmly-woven stretch fabric and may be faced with generally the same color fabric as the garment. The insert may be designed with a plurality of buttonholes along one side of the V and matching buttons along the opposite side of the V. The panel is buttoned into the fly of a pair of jeans, with the wide part of the V at the waist. Due to its V-shape and firmness, this panel offers support and comfort, because the waist is expanded the same amount to each side of the wearer and the thin, smooth panel applies gentle, even pressure against the wearer. When a pregnancy is over and a normal clothing size is needed, the V-shaped panel can simply be un-buttoned and removed out of the jeans.

The defined opening receives the complete genitalia to be encased by the pocket.

Abstract: A skirt suitable for cheerleading is described which is formed by a body and a waistband. The body forms the main section of the skirt and attached along its top edge to the waistband which fits snugly to the wearer's waist, yet still allows for extreme athletic movements. The waistband is formed by an elastic band attached at its ends to two fabric ends which are connected to each other by a closure mechanism such as a button. The elastic band is protected and concealed by a cover material which forms a passageway through which the elastic band passes. The fabric ends and the cover material are attached to the top edge of the body of the skirt to act as the waistband. The elastic band is not permanently attached to the body or the cover material to allow it to stretch freely in response to movements by the wearer. The body of the skirt includes another closure mechanism such as a zipper which works in conjunction with the button on the fabric ends to allow the skirt to be easily put on and taken off.

Abstract: Provided is a high stretch composite elastic waistband that includes a relatively large ratio of drawcord to the relaxed length of the elastic web. The drawcord is fixed to the elastic web in such a way that the drawcord is allowed to oscillate to form multiple drawcord protrusions, such as protruding loops or partial loops, as the elastic web returns to its relaxed size. The drawcord protrusions extend relative to the elastic web. The composite elastic waistband is constructed so that at least a section of the drawcord is capable of being pulled away from the elastic web so that the protrusions are at least partially flattened. Then the elastic web is capable of being stretched and released so that the elastic web contracts and cooperates with the drawcord to form the plurality of drawcord protrusions. This accumulates excess portions of the drawcord. The drawcord is movably attached to the elastic band by connecting stitches so that the drawcord extends in the longitudinal direction.

The slider includes a flat hollow body having a pair of horizontally spaced apart openings through which the guide tape extends, and a pair of vertically spaced apart openings, and an actuator housed in the body and having a push head at its top, a leg at its bottom and a plurality of protrusions each engageable with one of the teeth on the guide tape. The head and leg are held in the vertically spaced apart openings, respectively, of the body. The body is secured to the outer waist portion of the garment by a fitting having prongs pierced therethrough.

Abstract: Athletic shorts with inner and outer layers comprising: an outer shell fabricated of synthetic materials and including an upper region with an open uppermost extent, the upper region having a front section including a vertical slit with coupling devices and an adjustable strap, the lower region of the outer shell including two legs formed in a generally cylindrical configuration with an open lowermost extent having a perimeter and a front section, each front section including an adjustable strap positioned adjacent to the perimeter; and an inner sports brief fabricated of synthetic materials and positioned inside the outer shell, the sports brief being smaller than and having the same shape as the outer shell, the sports brief having an uppermost extent affixed to the uppermost extent of the outer shell, the sports brief having a lower section comprising two legs, each leg having an open lowermost extent with a perimeter including a elastic strip.
