Abstract: A pocket for a garment adapted to removably receive an object having appendages partially visible therein, wherein the pocket is a panel of flexible yieldable material which has a top and sides, with openings therethrough, and the object may be inserted into the pocket with its appendages extending through the top and a side opening. The pocket may have a bottom side parallel to the top side and opposed parallel sides and tapered sides between the parallel sides and bottom side, and openings through the tapered sides. The garment may have graphic indicia arranged on it and the object, when secured in the pocket, forms a part of the graphic indicia.

Abstract: Camouflaged garments of the type used by hunters, outdoorsmen and the like. Particularly, a garment having a plurality of elongated connectors secured at each end so as to form connector loops extending outwardly of the garment. The camouflage element consists of a pair of simulated leaves having a common stem, such that a simulated leaf extends from each end of the stem. The stem is flexible so that it may be interlocked with the connector loop and thereby releasably support the simulated leaves on the outside of the garment. The leaves are characterized by their simplicity of construction and the ease of interchangeability depending upon the change of seasons or habitat.

Abstract: An outerwear garment having a highly unique design and display feature. The outerwear garment of a particular fabric material includes a plurality of parallel slits which form a plurality of strips of fabric within a visual area. A display panel is secured to the inside of the fabric material such that a depiction is positioned to correspond to the visual area and partially visible through the slits. The slits may be cut generally horizontally, vertically, or at an inclined angle. When the fabric material is wetted, the strips become distorted in various ways to reveal increased portions of the respective depictions within the respective visual areas. Multiple visual areas can be created on the garment to provide an unlimited number of different designs, patterns, textures, and visual effects.

Abstract: An article is constituted of pieces of self-cohesive, pliable plastic which form a well sealed enveloping structure which may be manually unsealed and opened for the insertion of decorative or information conveying material and then manually be closed again and well resealed, at least one piece of the plastic being transparent, then at least one piece being selected so as to permit viewing of decorative or information conveying material in the enveloping structure.

Abstract: An attractive jacket design having removable and changable panels that has the overall effect of lowering the cost of sport jackets. With this invention, chest, shoulder and back panels on the jacket are easily removable and changeable in order to allow a user of the jacket to use one set of patches with the jacket for one purpose or event and to remove those patches from the jacket and put another set of patches on the jacket for another purpose or event, which permits the manufacture of a set of patches for various teams rather than a set of jackets, thus reducing overall manufcturing cost.

Abstract: An embroidered lace bracelet is provided wherein the bracelet includes a fastening means for fastening the ends of the bracelet together and the fastening means is embroidered as part of the bracelet during the embroidery of the bracelet. In a preferred embodiment, the bracelet is adapted to receive a conventional buckle means while in other embodiments the bracelet may be passed through a loop embroidered into the bracelet, during the embroidery of the bracelet and tied-off, or passed through a loop extending from the bracelet, embroidered during the embroidery of the bracelet, which loop must be folded against the bracelet and an end of the bracelet passed therethrough to fasten the bracelet about the wrist of the wearer.

The bullet-hole-like opening and the powder-burn-like halo can be produced by making a shot of the piece from a fire arm.

Abstract: An inflatable applique for an article of clothing comprises a valved, substantially airtight enclosure having a top layer and a backing layer with complementary peripheral outlines. In the method of manufacture, the top and backing layers are welded together preferably simultaneously with the attachment of the enclosure to a clothing article. Various decorative elements may be given to the top layer, such as printing and embossing. The top layer may also be welded to the backing layer within the peripheral outlines to create inflatable subenclosures to give the applique a sculpted appearance.

Abstract: A necktie is formed with an elongated front flap of a flattened tubular fabric material having a forward layer and a rearward layer with a cavity therebetween. A rear flap of fabric material is connected at the upper end to the upper end of the front flap to form an elongated tie. A fabric sheet is mounted in the cavity in the front flap with the upper end of the fabric sheet attached to the rearward layer and the lower end of the fabric sheet folded upwardly and connected to the rearward surface of the forward layer so as to form to a generally J-shaped configuration. A transverse slot is formed in the rearward layer above the fabric sheet to permit the insertion of a photograph into the cavity. An opening is formed in the forward layer immediately forward of the fabric sheet and located above the lower end of the fabric sheet so as to reveal the photograph inserted within the cavity.

Abstract: A method of adhering articles to textile wearing apparel involving the steps of laminating a precut article having an upper surface and a lower surface between a clear polyester coating and an adhesive scrim backing to envelope the article and protect it from moisture and scuffing, cutting margins away from the laminated article to form an enveloped article, and applying the enveloped article to wearing apparel at a temperature of approximately 270.degree. F. to 300.degree. F., under a pressure of approximately 30 psi to 50 psi for a period of approximately 8 seconds to 15 seconds. The article becomes firmly adhered to the wearing apparel and remains impervious to moisture after repeated machine washing and drying cycles.

The pullover-type garment according to the invention is remarkable in that the front and/or the back part display, in a matching manner, one or more decorative elements (2) depicting animals or characters which are attached and provided with suitable means for throwing said elements (2) into relief and for leaving the right side and wrong side of the part of the garment receiving said decorative element(s) free from any roughnesses and seams.

Abstract: An aperture in a body of a garment co-acts with a part of the garment to produce a combination of a two-dimensional image or design appearing on the garment with a three-dimensional part of the garment. The part of the garment capable of being drawn through the aperture forms a member which is a part of the two-dimensional design appearing on the garment. The part of the garment that is drawn through the aperture tends to cinch the waist of the garment about the user. An optional fastener keeps the drawn-through part of the garment from withdrawing through the aperture.

Abstract: A new garment decoration and a process for its manufacture, which encompasses both classical and modern elements of decoration. An image is manufactured directly on a garment, such as by silk-screening. Chenille is sewn about the border of the image, thereby creating a shape with a chenille outline and an interior image. The decorative shapes can be letters, numbers, mascots, characters or symbols.

Abstract: A method of altering an article of clothing which has the steps of: (a) making at least two cuts into the material of the article of clothing to form a strip of material of a predetermined length attached at both ends to the material; (b) cutting the strip to form a pair of strips with free ends; and (c) reattaching the pair of strips together to form an altered article of clothing. The article of clothing as altered is also disclosed.

Abstract: An article of wearing apparel adapted to have releasably secured thereto an ornamental element. There is provided fastener means having a pair of complementary fastener portions adapted to be selectively engageable or disengageable for securing or releasing said fastener portions, respectively. One of said fastener portions is secured to the inside of said article of wearing apparel and the other of said fastener portions is adapted to be secured to said ornamental element. In this way any selected one of a plurality of ornamental elements provided with said other of said fastener portions is adapted to be releasably secured to the article of wearing apparel to form a combination which simulates an article of wearing apparel having an ornamental element permanently secured thereto by stitching.

Abstract: An attachment mechanism and system, for the ornamentation of and on articles of clothing (i.e., shirts, blouses, dresses, pants, skirts, shorts, overalls, jackets, etc.). The article of clothing has a first strip of material, the system's receiving loop forming element, affixed to it. This strip is sewn or otherwise attached at its two ends to the article of clothing, leaving the center section spaced from the article to form the receiving loop upon the article of clothing. This receiving strip can be attached to any chosen display area upon the garment's exterior. Customized fabric receiving strips could also become the clothing manufacturer's vanity/display label. In one embodiment, the ornamentation, preferably of soft composition, has an attachment strip attached to the back side or it's top section wherein the strip ends are releasably interconnected to form an attachment loop.

Abstract: A method for adhering holograms to textile wearing apparel involving the steps of laminating a precut hologram between a clear polyester coating and an adhesive scrim backing to envelope the hologram and protect it from moisture and scuffing, cutting margins away from the laminated hologram to form an enveloped hologram, and applying the enveloped hologram to wearing apparel at a temperature of approximately 270.degree. to 300.degree. F. under a pressure of approximately 30 to 50 psi for a period of approximately 8 to 15 seconds. The hologram becomes firmly adhered to the wearing apparel and remains impervious to moisture after repeated machine washing and drying cycles.

Abstract: A unitary article of apparel includes a shirt portion having a dyed portion thereon. The dyed portion is in the shape of a tie, so as to create a combination shirt and tie. This combination is machine washable. The dyed portion has a fastener means formed therein which permits the shirt portion to be opened and closed (as desired) for use as casual wear or formal wear, respectively. In one embodiment, the dye comprises a "puffed" ink dye, thereby providing a three-dimensional effect and contributing to the realism.

Abstract: An article of clothing to which a three dimensional applique is applied to provide a decorative effect. The applique is of a flexible non-cloth material such as vinyl, various plastics or rubber which is attached to the frontal panel of a T-shirt or sweater with the attachment accomplished either through sewing or other positive connectors. The three dimensional applique is formed through various molding processes and the shirt or sweater may be cut to receive the same.

Abstract: An article of apparel, generally a T shirt which includes a fabric layer upon which is attached a three dimensional molded article providing a three dimensional relief pattern on a front part of the T shirt to enhance the appearance and provide opportunity for increased sales. The three dimensional molded part includes a flat based disc and raised relief parts with the disc being attached to the T shirt fabric leaving a hollow area between the fabric and the raised parts.

A partially-completed design is placed on the body portion of the garment so as to be externally visible when the garment is worn by a wearer. One or more holes are defined in the body portion of the garment at locations within the perimeters of portions of the partial design which are physically and functionally related to the portions thereof by allowing exposure of the flesh of the wearer through the holes so as to integrate with and complete the design.

Abstract: An embroidered design adapted to be heat sealed to another article is disclosed. The embroidered design comprises a bobbin yarn forming a top surface of the embroidered design, and a needle or front yarn forming the bottom surface of the embroidered design. The needle yarn comprises first and second coextensive strands. One of the strands is made from a thermoplastic material which melts and forms an adhesive bond with the supporting article upon application of heat and pressure. The other strand remains intact upon application of heat and pressure. The second strand maintains the structural integrity of the embroidered design. The embroidered design also comprises a backing material disposed between the top and bottom surfaces which backing material is made from a degradable substance. The backing material disintegrates upon application of heat and pressure and may be brushed away.

Abstract: A decorative glove for use with fashionwear, wherein the glove completes the fashion look at the wrist and arm areas of the wearer, by providing decorative ornamentation at the outer wrist area of the glove, which may be sleeveless, and terminate at the wrist area, or which may include sleeves which can also incorporate fashion features complementary to the wearer's dress. The decorative glove includes a thin elastic wrist strap; a decorative piece secured to the wrist strap and positioned thereon and a loop having two free ends secured to the wrist strap for removable securement about a finger of the wearer. Such glove leaves the wearer's hands substantially uncovered and unencumbered to perform all of its normal functions. In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, there is provided a sleeve extending rearwardly of the wrist strap, whereby such sleeve forms part of the fashion look of the glove to complement the wearer's dress.

The facing incorporates the interlining, at least partially enclosed in a stretchable, elongated fabric, or outerlining. The facing, in turn, is sewn to the garment's edge, with the exposed surface of the interlining, if any, adjacent to the garment. The slits, directed away from the edge of the garment, permit the interlining to adapt to a concave curve by opening and allowing the portions of material on either side of the slit to slightly separate from each other. Around a convex curve, portions of interlining material adjacent to a slit may overlap.

Abstract: A fashion trim article for the protection and decoration of corners of cloth such as collars and ties comprises an angled enclosure formed and stamped from a sheet and having a front plate with bent-up and -over side sections and a back plate spaced from the front plate for receiving therebetween the cloth corner.The back plate has outwardly bent parallel bearing wall sections with opposite bores receiving the bearing pins of a pivotable retaining flap provided with a tab projecting into the opening defined between the bearing wall sections for engaging the cloth material introduced into the space between the front and back plates. The tab on the retaining flap not only engages the material to retain the material but also moves the material further into the trim member when the flap is closed.

Abstract: An embroidered design adapted to be heat sealed to another article. The design is embroidered on a substrate made of woven polyester fabric. The substrate is bonded at the underside thereof to a low melt thermoplastic adhesive film to form a lamination. The design is thereafter traced along the outer and inner peripheries thereof with a severing tool to remove all portions of the lamination except only the design proper consisting of the embroidering thread and the plastic film portions thereunder. The design may then be heat sealed to another article such as a garment with the garment proper being exposed between adjacent portions of the thread to simulate a design embroidered directly onto the garment.

Abstract: A tie bow of ribbon for gift packages and a process of fabricating the bow are disclosed. The bow is formed from three separate ribbon pieces and includes a looped base portion and a superposed wing portion which are united by a central tying strip. As disclosed in the bow-making process, the loop and wing are easily formed by shaping and crimping strips of single-ply ribbon and impaling them on a pair of spaced needles. The tying strip is then looped over the impaled ribbon pieces and stapled to itself to hold the strip in place and finish the bow.

Abstract: This invention concerns a knitted elastic fold-over edge band for use as edging for example on women's undergarments wherein the edge band would be folded lengthwise and sewn to the edge of the item of apparel, such as a brassiere, panty, etc. Half of the width of the edge band would have a soft surface created by knitting half the band width with a jersey stitch using textured yarn while the other half of the band width would be made with conventional lace construction. The soft half of the band would be adjacent the wearer's skin, thereby providing comfort, while the lace portion would be exposed on the outer surface of the item of apparel, thereby providing a decorative element. The edge band would be sewn to the garment in this manner and beauty would be enhanced since the stitches used for sewing the edge band would be less visible since they would be disguised by the lace design.

Abstract: A predetermined symmetrical pattern is sewn on a canvas by applying a flexible adhering sheet having printed thereon indications of a gridwork corresponding to the gridwork of the canvas. The flexible sheet is of substantially smaller area than the canvas and indicates STITCHES and paths to be followed. The edges of the flexible sheet gridwork are aligned with the canvas gridwork while they are joined together. The canvas is then sewn with a first set of stitches to establish paths and STITCHES illustrated by the paths on the flexible sheet. The flexible sheet is removed and a second set of stitches is sewn to complete the paths established by the first set of stitches.
