  • Patent number: 7013497
Abstract: A strap-securing device for use in securing a strap to a shoulder pad worn, for example, on the body of a player in the sport of football. In general, the strap-securing device comprises a strap-engagement member and a catch member joined together by a linkage permitting the members to swivel with respect to each other. The strap-engagement member is secured to a strap free end. The catch member of the strap-securing device is secured to the shoulder pad chest plate. The secured straps firmly hold the shoulder pad in place on the wearer's body. The strap-securing device advantageously provides a secure strap attachment point, without strap slippage, while simultaneously permitting elongation or shortening of the strap length. The swiveling action of the strap-securing device permits the device to lie flat against the shoulder pad while bending and straightening in concert with the wearer's movement.

  • Patent number: 6450126
Abstract: A garment for the transporting, training and displaying pet birds on the shoulder of their owners. The garment consists of two front panels and a back panel joined at the shoulders with the front panels removably attachable to each other using adjustable fasteners. At the apex of the shoulders are removable wooden dowels that are attachable with ties or similar mounting, which provide perches for the pet birds to hold onto. The ties or similar fasteners also provide attachment to the garment for toys and paraphernalia to entertain the bird and to adorn the garment. This garment allows that the bird has a natural removable wooden perch to hold onto and the owner has the ability to hold and transport his pet bird without damaging or soiling his clothing. Also, the owner can remove the perches for laundering the garment and the perches may be provided in a plurality of different diameters to allow mounting of the appropriate sized perch for the grip size of the bird.

  • Patent number: 6295655
Abstract: A protective guard worn to protect the surface of the shoulders from the pressure caused by straps and load of a bag. The protective guard has a shell made of a durable rigid material, shaped and configured for attaching to the upper and rear surfaces of the shoulders and the lower rear neck surface of the wearer. The shell has an inner surface making contact with the surfaces of the wearer and an outer surface making contact with the bag. A pad means is attached to the inner surface at predetermined regions corresponding to the upper and rear surfaces of the shoulders of the wearer. Located on the outer surface of the shell is a means to prevent slippage of the shoulder straps when placed on the shell. There are several means to prevent slippage of the shoulder straps on the shell. One means is a channel defined by a pair of ridges formed on the outer surface of the shell. In the alternative, the means can be a patch of rubbery material attached at predetermined regions.

  • Patent number: 6079056
Abstract: An air inflated sealed rubber padding cushioning protective device for use in contact sports and worn underneath traditional shoulder pads. The air inflated sealed rubber padding has a smooth, flat surface that changes to a modular configuration when the protective padding is donned; effectively conforming to the contour of the body area covered at creases that constitute flexible joints. The air inflated sealed rubber padding uses the cushioning power of air to displace the force of impact, such as impacts delivered to the shoulder, clavicular, and scapular areas. The protective padding not only prevents injuries, but is also capable of protecting injured players from further injury. Alternatively, the air inflated sealed rubber padding can additionally have a plurality of air filled openings that form an array of air filled pockets having a honeycomb appearance.
