  • Patent number: 4586198
Abstract: A garment (30) formed from two rectangular elongated panels (32 and 34) of identical shape and dimensions. The panels are superimposed in a face-to-face manner at an angle. Their upper portions are folded so that the edge of each upper portion adjoins a part of the corresponding edge of the other panel, thereby to form triangularly-shaped sleeve portions (50 and 50'). The latter are turned over towards the adjacent edges (46 and 46') to form sleeve openings (38 and 38'). The lower portions of the panels are folded so that the inner edge of one of panels adjoins and is attached to the outer edge of the other panel on both sides of the panels. The formation of the garment is completed by attaching coincident inner edges of the overlapped portions of the panels to leave a neck opening. Various modifications are possible so that dress-type, blouse-type, or coat-type garments can be formed. The garment is attractive and economical to produce.

  • Patent number: 4332033
Abstract: An adjustable dress capable of fitting different size and shaped women. The dress is uniquely formed by front top portions and a front skirt joined by a midriff sash. Back yokes and a shoulder pattern are joined to the front. The back yokes provide the fullness of the back which adjusts to all sizes within a predetermined range. The arrangement and fullness of the patterns forming the dress allow for adjustment to the body within the garment. When the sash is tied by drawing it to the rear on each side, excessive fullness in the front is neatly and evenly draped in accordian fashion between the side seams at the rear by relocating excessive body fabric from the front to the rear where it is held neatly in place by the sash. The resultant dress forms an attractive garment on any size woman within the selected range of measurements.

  • Patent number: 4246657
Abstract: A dress garment for dressing a person over the torso and down the legs. The garment is fashioned simply from a rectangular length cut from a single bolt of cloth, i.e. the garment basically is composed of an elongated fabric panel having side edges and end edges, with a retroverted portion between its opposite end edges. This retroverted portion is adapted to be disposed below and spaced from the crotch. The front and back of the garment are thus typically one piece except for styling, i.e. like a bag. The garment features lower lateral leg openings made by terminating the lateral stitching of the side edges of the front segment of the panel to the side edges of the rear segment above the retroverted portion, to provide lateral openings extending upwardly from the retroverted portion of the panel.

  • Patent number: 4186444
Abstract: A form for shaping a coat sleeve is a Plexiglass tube with a re-entrant, oval, elongated hoop having a pair of generally straight side portions that generally conform in shape with front and back crease lines of the sleeve. Between the side portions are semi-circular end portions; an end portion proximate the shoulder has a greater radius than the end portion proximate the wrist. The two semi-circular end portions are approximately tangent to the ends of the side portions abutting against them so that there is a smooth transition between each of the side and end portions. Because the tube is Plexiglass, it has spring properties that cause the hoop to return to its original configuration if the hoop is deformed less than the elastic limit of the Plexiglass. The outer edges of the side portions are spaced from each other by more than the separation between the front and back crease lines of the sleeve interior so that the side portions exert outwardly directed forces against the crease lines.

  • Patent number: 4152782
Abstract: A garment for wear by a person who is being fully immersed in a liquid, such as in a complete immersion baptism, has been provided which is lightweight, opaque and non-clinging to satisfy the requirements of comfort and modesty. The garment has a generalized shape with a bottom opening for the legs of the wearer, a top opening for the head and neck of the wearer, and armholes for the arms of the wearer. The bottom opening is restricted so as to bear against the legs of the wearer to prevent the bottom of the garment from rising as the wearer is immersed. A vent opening is formed near the top of the garment to permit air entrapped during the immersion to escape without causing the garment to expand or billow. A belt for fastening only around the front of the garment is provided for the desired cosmetic effect, without impeding the passage of air to the vent opening.
